The first ghost Jason King ever saw was his brother's. And when the spectre told Jason that he needed to find their estranged father, who disappeared during their childhood, his life was changed forever.

When documentarian Ben Lawrence reads an article about Jason, now a western Sydney security guard and part-time ghost hunter, he embarks on a seven year journey into a gothic world of suburban graveyards and broken souls.

Paranormal activity, a family's terrible forgotten secret and a police investigation converge in Ghosthunter, a part family memoir and part true crime podcast. Years of self-reflection and estranged characters from the past bring Jason and Ben to a confronting conclusion - that sometimes the most terrifying ghosts are the ones we find within ourselves.

I downloaded this as something Audible was giving away. If there was a charge after, I'd have paid. I was expecting a daft ghosthunter story, instead we get the story of the Ghost Hunter, Jason King. Ben Lawrence is a great narrator as this is his documentary and he spends a lot of time with Jason. Jason's story is unbelievable tragic and the horrors faced here are all very human.

Some episodes come with trigger warnings and I warn you that they are required. I am not joking or exaggerating that there are horrors here.

This series might not convince a sceptic that ghosts exist, but no one can deny that the past haunts the present.

I loved this, it didn't go where I thought it would. I didn't know what to make of the first episode ,stick with it

I can see how people who thought this was about the supernatural would be a bit peeved but it does not have take away from the fact that this is an excellent story.

Jason is strange character with a complex background and what we set out to do and look at is not where we ultimately end up.

The podcast is very balanced and we'll structured and presented. I can see me listening to it again. It was not at all what I expected.

If you enjoyed West Cork or Maddie (9.au) you will enjoy this.

This started out to be your typical'Ghost Hunter' type of story. But I am glad to say it turned into memoirs of a young boy who had a terrible life. Jason will never remember what happened to him but whatever it was it's probably for the best he doesn't remember.
I listened to all episodes in one go.
It grips you like that.
I recommend this pod cast.
