  • Newsflasher 2 - Halloween Is Here
    Oct 31 2026

It's already Halloween… and the chaos continues! 🎃

After a little time away, Caleb and I are back with plenty to catch up on. Between starting 7th grade, new adventures, and a few changes along the way, life certainly hasn't been boring.

In this episode, we're talking all things Halloween! From favorite candy and costumes to trick-or-treating traditions, we share what makes the holiday fun and some of the things that can make it a little more complicated.

We also talk about sensory challenges, taking breaks, managing expectations, and why sometimes a little flexibility can make all the difference. Because Halloween doesn't have to look a certain way to be a good Halloween.

And of course, we're bringing you Halloween Hot Takes, where Caleb and I share our opinions on some of the season's biggest questions. (Fair warning: candy opinions may get serious. 😂)

  • Why "Just Try" Doesn't Work
    May 31 2026

    "Just try it."

Most of us have said it. I know I have.

Usually, it comes from a good place. We want to encourage our kids, help them grow, or show them they're capable of more than they think. But sometimes those three little words can feel a lot bigger than we realize.

In this episode, Caleb and I talk about what "just try it" feels like from both sides. Caleb shares why pressure often makes it harder for him to try something new, and I talk honestly about the times I've pushed when I thought I was helping.

We discuss the difference between pushing and supporting, why timing matters, and how helping someone feel safe can sometimes be the thing that allows them to try in the first place.

And of course, Caleb's Corner is back with another food rating segment!

If you've ever said "just try it" and watched things go sideways, you're not alone. And if you've ever been the person hearing those words while feeling completely overwhelmed, this episode is for you too.

In this episode of Exploring The Gray, Caleb and I talk about what it feels like when your brain needs a pause—what we call “hitting the brain brakes.”

Caleb shares what these moments feel like from the inside, what can trigger them, and what helps when everything feels overwhelming. I share what we’ve learned about supporting those moments with more calm, patience, and understanding.

We also take a moment to recognize Autism Acceptance Month and what acceptance looks like in our everyday lives.

    🗂️ What We Talk About:

    • What “hitting the brain brakes” feels like
    • Common triggers like noise, transitions, and overwhelm
    • Why these moments aren’t defiance
