  • Ep 1: The Forgotten Victims | Part 01
    Jan 8 2021
Laura Richards analyses and deconstructs the murders and attacks on lone women committed by Peter Sutcliffe (known as PS throughout the series) in the north east of England in the 1960s and 1970s.   This case happened before Laura started her career at New Scotland Yard. It was the very reason her unit was set up. Listen and find out why Laura believes this is one of the most misunderstood cases of our time and why we should stop referring to this serial killer as The Yorkshire R*****   Join Laura each week in the intelligence cell as she behaviourally breaks down each attack and highlights which cases she believes to be linked, why PS did what he did and how he was allowed to get away with it for so long. You won't want to miss this.   #HerNameWasWilmaMcCann #HerNameWasEmilyJackson #HerNameWasIreneRichardson #HerNameWasDebraSchlesinger #HerNameWasPatriciaAtkinson #HerNameWasJayneMcDonald #HerNameWasJeanJordan #HerNameWasYvonnePearson #HerNameWasHelenRytka #HerNameWasVeraMillward #HerNameWasJosephineWhittaker #HerNameWasBarbara Leach #HerNameWasMargeruiteWalls #HerNameWasJacquelineHill   #HerNameISAnnaRogulskyj #HerNameISOliveSmelt #HerNameISTraceyBrown #HerNameISMarcellaClaxton #HerNameISMaureenLong #HerNameISMarilynMoore #HerNamerISAnnRooney #HerNameISDrUpadyaBandara #HerNameISMoLea #HerNameISTheresaSykes   Sourced Clips https://twitter.com/i/status/1327217063010721794   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kMhnKX9xmI   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuxVdf46sJk Learn more about your ad choices. Written with such care & dignity for the victims

I unashamedly cried throughout most of this episode .

This amazing series ought to be taught in the educational system and in the police establishment. Furthermore legal reparation needs to be enforced against any media platform that deals with such horrific and traumatic crimes.

highly recommend

really interesting deep dive into criminal mind and criminal actions and behaviour. I was fascinated listening, particularly to the Sophie Toscan du Plantier episodes as I know that area well and remember the shock I felt when her murder happened in a place i felt so safe and at peace.

Brilliant.

I listen to many True Crime Podcasts. Laura is by far my favourite. Crime Analyst is different to the others and Laura’s knowledge and investigations has made me think more about the Victims. You truly feel Laura’s drive to protect Women especially and the Victim is always at the centre of the episodes. I recommend Crime Analyst highly.

Enlightening, engaging, thought provoking brilliance

I’m not necessarily a true crime fan, I study psychology and found this podcast whilst searching for psychology related podcasts. What I find so refreshing is the way Laura contextualises all the cases she covers not only in terms of date but in terms of accepted rhetoric at the time. She challenges us as listeners as well as the professionals she discusses which is not only refreshing but honest and essential. I like the pace and delivery style, I highly recommend listening Laura is an excellent advocate for women and girls.

Informative and a difficult listen at times, but Laura is thorough and the case reviews are excellent

Really appreciate the information on coercive control- phenomenal woman that is educating us all. A must listen for anyone interested in crime and switching the focus to the forgotten victims

Gobsmacked!

I am loving this podcast. I'm only on episode 6, so still finding out information about the killings in Yorkshire, but can't believe just how much evidence was missed or ignored! Addictive!

Fascinating and emotional

Richard McCann is a truly inspiring person, I was honoured to hear this long interview with him. It was hard hitting to hear about the horrific and disrespectful way Wilma and her family were treated by the police and media. Thank you for shining a light on the issues around victim blaming and focusing on victims not the perpetrator

Laura's podcast has changed my life

I am really not exaggerating when I say Laura changed my life. Discovering Laura's podcast has opened a massive feminist sized door in my life that I cannot believe wasn't open before.

As a previous victim of SA and DA I have not only learnt enough to completely empower myself, but it's helped me to do some deep healing. Laura has helped me understand the systems that are in place that have created a world where VAWG is not uncommon. This has helped contribute towards being able to relinquish the shame, guilt and self blame i carried for 15 years.

I recommend this podcast and Laura's work to everyone I know and use it daily in my role in children's services. I cannot thank you enough for the work you do Laura and for giving us access to such an amazing resource!
