About this listen
Due to my disenchantment with Verne, this week we’re pivoting to an American realist of the last 19th century, Stephen Crane.
We begin with novel The Red Badge of Courage. This novel was widely praised for its realism, despite the fact that Crane never served as a soldier.
Crane is recognized today as one of the most innovative writers of his generation. His writing is said to have made a deep impression on Ernest Hemingway, among others.
