    This episode: a conversation with Psychoanalyst Dr. Sun Ju Chung, President of the Korean Psychoanalytic Center, which became a component society of the International Psychoanalytical Society this year at the 54th IPA Congress in Lisbon.

    The conversation ranges from hyper-connectivity to Korean pop culture, beauty standards, and food, to the very encouraging state of psychoanalysis in South Korea today.


    Sun Ju says, "It took 45 years since our founder established the first study group in Seoul. It was a long journey for us. We were all very touched." The society now has 34 members, ten training analysts (of which Sun Ju is one) and a whopping 65 candidates.

    Fresh from presenting a keynote paper in Lisbon on one of the conference theme's, technology and the human mind, Sun Ju is getting ready to host the 5th IPA Asia Pacific Conference in Seoul April 29 to May 1, 2026.
