I’m Emily Banks, a designer and digital experience integrator who’s spent the last decade working behind the scenes with online businesses — and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that very little stays neatly in its own box.


Design affects the tech. The tech affects the customer experience. A new offer creates thirty seven other jobs. And somehow, even with a team, half of it still seems to land back with the founder.


On the show, I talk about what it actually takes to make all of that work together — from design, content and launches to systems, customer experience, and the endless creative workload that comes with an established business.


Expect honest conversations about the things that make running an online business more complicated than it looks, why hiring support doesn’t always mean getting work off your plate, and what I’ve learned from a decade of helping founders figure it all out.

    🎧 For a while, I genuinely wondered whether I’d fallen victim to a decade of increasingly elaborate scope creep — and, as design became easier to DIY, whether people even needed what I did anymore. Except my clients weren’t needing me less. They were asking me to do more.

    In this episode, I’m talking about how my role expanded alongside the online businesses I work with, why hiring more people doesn’t always mean getting more off your plate, and how I came to realise that being able to take on the thinking, problem-solving and implementation around the work was actually where I could be most useful.
