To round out comfort reads month, we read Veronica’s pick: The Deal by Elle Kennedy. Thanks to Prime’s hit series Off Campus, we’re seeing a well-deserved resurgence of this book, and we’re totally stoked to talk about it. Hockey star Garrett Graham has a problem: he’s failing Ethics, which was supposed to be an easy class to round out his course load. Hannah Wells is sailing through class, and when Garrett begs her to tutor him, she shoots him down real fast. But when he finds out she has a crush on the star quarterback, he proposes a deal: he’ll help her land her crush via classic fake dating if she tutors him. One thing leads to another, and Hannah proposes her own deal. And suddenly, the fake-dating situation doesn’t feel so fake anymore.

We pulled an audible and chose to do comfort reads for the month of August. Rae chose The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson, an enemies-to-lovers story about two chefs competing (or not) from across a parking lot. Vera has recently opened a food truck, aptly named Foodie, while trying to get back on her feet following a horrible breakup. Killian is the executive chef at swanky upscale restaurant, Lilou, right across the street. Can they put down the knives and call a truce?
