  • Episode 303: Stars of English Youth Ballet from Giselle at Churchill Theatre Bromley
    Aug 22 2026
Darren Weale talks with Olivia Trevelyan-Richards and Joshua Webb who play Giselle and Albert in one of two casts presenting the ballet Giselle for the English Youth Ballet at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley on 28th and 29th August. Two casts, as the pair explain, due to the physical and emotional demands of the intense, dramatic and beautiful production, which has a matinee and evening performance on both days. Tickets here. Olivia and Joshua touch upon their careers to date - from playing wood nymph to Giselle for Olivia, and with years performing in the US for Joshua, and the onstage buzz and energy that they both experience in Giselle. They also describe the special experience of performing and coaching about 100 children over 10 days for each venue. This 'quite rare and special' process takes the production to 7 UK venues and therefore involves over 700 children a year. This clearly means a lot to Olivia and Joshua, and to those who have previously stepped in their ballet shoes for English Youth Theatre.. We interviewed the Founder and Director of English Youth Ballet, Janet Lewis MBE, in episode 60 of the Bromley Buzz podcast. You can listen to that here. We are spreading the love!
