There are challenges facing Christians today that come from multiple directions. This has always been the case throughout Biblical history, but it seems we're reaching a tipping point that is clearly separating true followers of Christ from not only atheists and members of other religions, but also from a lukewarm church that has been tickling ears more than spreading the Gospel.

Blessed Report with JD and Tammy Rucker will strive to bring truthful words of faith. From Bible study to current events, the show will focus on delivering information believers who are new to the faith need while offering reinforcement and discernment for those who have been in the faith for a while.Copyright Discern Media Christianity Spirituality

Turning the Other Cheek Is Not About Passivity but Resistance

The most abused line in the Sermon on the Mount is the one about turning the other cheek. People treat it like a divine order to become a human doormat, to absorb every insult, every injustice, every advance of evil without lifting a finger. That reading is wrong. It is not what Jesus taught, and it is not how He lived.

Matthew 5:39 does not command passivity. It commands a refusal to play the other man’s game. “But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” The Greek word rendered “resist” is antistenai. It means to stand against in the same manner, to answer force with matching force, to mirror the attacker’s method. Jesus is forbidding retaliation in kind, not forbidding resistance itself.

It makes sense to apply our Biblical beliefs to the way we perceive politics and pretty much everything else in the world.
