  • Ep. 8: The Turtle and the Rabbit with Tommy Chong
    Nov 14 2017
[Contains explicit content] Tommy Chong lends his voice to the retelling of Aesop's classic fable, "The Tortoise and the Hare". Our version, written by Matt Lieb, features some familiar elements - like the race - but our animals live in a hippie co-op, where sometimes a race isn't about, like, racing. Right, man?

    Nov 14 2017
[Contains explicit content] Things started going bad for Heinz Linge the moment he woke up with gum in his hair. When the day ended, Hitler was dead and Heinz was mopping the floor. Bedtime realism for Irish people! Well done and aptly narrated by Nick Offerman. Great for the insomnia.

I took a very scientific approach to reviewing this:

Episodes 1-4 Bored, uninterested, Americans trying very hard to be funny but totally failing to resonate much with my Anglo ears. That said, although I didn't like the material some of the vocal performances were pretty impressive.

Shared a couple of bottles of wine with friends.

Episodes 5-8 Experienced little in the way of change.

A couple more beers watching the wonderful Leslie Nielsen in Police Squad, the perfect antidote to what I had heard so far.

Episode 9 My Lord why am I doing this after Leslie nearly split my sides open for the umpteenth time?

Episodes 10-12 I'll grumpily admit that I did have the odd chuckle and maybe some of it wasn't so bad after all. I've been wrong before, all too often!

So for this rare drinker it seems the ideal treatment is to apply a bottle of Chablis, two bottles of IPA and allow the subject to breathe gently for about 30 minutes before listening.

There is much better stuff within these Audible shows but this might raise the odd laugh or two if approached with the right mindset.

I found this podcast in the name of "bedtime stories", and I have finished the listening nowadays. As an English learner, it's quite difficult for me to understand it. In a word, it is not the kind that made for kids. As for adults, there is no need to listen this type of audio shows.
It tells stories in the tone of adults opinion.

There are three faults in my opinion:
1. Some words are not suitable for kids.
2. As a bedtime show, the length of 10 minutes is a little short to comfort you fall asleep.
3. Maybe this show could make you awake other than sleep.

I think this show is a little boring instead of interesting.

Not for kids, and No need for adults.

These stories are perfect for the modern age. I tend to dip in and out of them between books and they are the perfect palate cleanser!

Love these

Loved it, although it would have been better if Nick had read the stories rather than just introduced them.

Great bedtime reading!
