Welcome back to Anonymous Crone!

Tonight we are talking about the Witch Trials from the 15th-17th centuries. Yes, we’re talking about Salem. But Salem was only one chapter in a much larger, uglier history.

We are remembering the people who died bearing the brand of Witch. We are honoring their lives and reclaiming the word Witch!

Those of us who identify as witches today, are not required to inherit the guilt others attached to the word. We are not required to hide our spirituality to make others comfortable. And we are not required to pretend history was harmless in order to enjoy modern traditions.

Tonight we're talking about Día de los Muertos. The Day of the Dead. Día de los Muertos is a complex celebration. Is it Catholic? Is it Pagan? Who is Mictecacihuatl? Who is La Catrina?

The dead cannot tell their own stories anymore. We tell them. We carry them. We pass them down. And every time we say their name… they are present in some small way.

Tonight we are talking abut 4 bad ass ladies:Marie Laveau • Baba Yaga • Isobel Gowdie • Morgan le Fay

Four completely different women. Four completely different cultures and traditions. Four very different stories. But they all have something in common. They represent women who possessed knowledge, power, magic, independence, or some combination of all four.
