This summer, AI agents slipped past the walls built to contain them during routine tests. Now two of the industry's most prominent figures say the next lapse may not be so harmless.

It is unusual for an industry to ask for its own oversight. Yet that is the message coming out of Dublin this week, where the heads of two of the world's biggest AI efforts argued that recent mishaps should be read as a forecast, not a footnote.

Demis Hassabis, co-founder and chair of Google DeepMind and chief scientist at Alphabet, told an AI summit on October 14 that this year's security incidents involving AI agents amount to early warning shots. His point was a matter of timing. The systems behind those incidents, he said, are still too limited to cause serious damage. Give them another year or two of progress without better safeguards, and that may no longer hold.

Robots are the big AI story right now The headlines these days are about physical AI: artificial intelligence that lives in a body, sees the world through sensors, and acts in it. After years of chatbots and image generators, the race has moved to robots, especially humanoids built to work in factories, warehouses, and homes. September 2026 alone brought a wave of announcements (Objectways roundup). Here are some of the companies building these robots and what they are doing:

  • How Artificial Intelligence Is Reshaping the Future of U.S. Hospitals

From clinical decision-making to hospital operations, AI has moved from experimentation to a core layer of healthcare infrastructure — and the 2026 data shows just how fast that shift has happened. Artificial intelligence has entered a new phase in healthcare. For years, hospitals treated AI as an emerging technology with promising but narrow applications — medical imaging, predictive analytics, research pilots. That picture has changed. AI is now woven into clinical workflows, administrative operations, patient engagement, and hospital decision-making at a pace few predicted even two years ago. The question is no longer whether artificial intelligence will influence healthcare. It's how quickly — and how responsibly — hospitals can integrate it while protecting patient trust, clinical oversight, and data security.
