Summary
Jakob verkauft mit seiner Mutter Gemüse und Kräuter auf dem Markt. Eines Tages kommt die Fee Kräuterweis und wirft die Kräuter durcheinander, sodass sie nicht mehr verkauft werden können. Sie kauft jedoch einige Kohlköpfe, die Jakob ihr nach Hause trägt. Dort erhält er eine Suppe, in der ein Kraut verarbeitet ist, das Jakob zuerst in ein Eichhörnchen, dann in einen hässlichen Zwerg verwandelt .
Nach sieben Jahren, in denen er bei der Fee das Kochen gelernt hat, kommt er zu seiner Familie zurück. Diese erkennt ihn nicht mehr und verstößt ihn. Schließlich wird er Koch bei einem Herzog und schließt Freundschaft mit einer ebenfalls verwunschenen Gans...
