Summary

"The Young Bucks are two guys who not only beat the odds to become one of the greatest, most popular tag teams ever, but also two industry changing visionaries. Matt and Nick are two of the smartest, hard-working, passionate individuals I’ve met during my 28 year career. With the creation of AEW, The Bucks will definitely leave the pro wrestling industry in a much better place then they discovered it in." (Matt Hardy, multiple-time world tag team champion)

The electric and daring independent wrestling tag team tells their inspiring story, revealing how two undersized, ambitious amateur athletes from Southern California became the idols of millions of popular sports fans and coveted among the ranks of AEW’s elite wrestling lineup.

Famous for their highflying moves, Superkicks and viral videos, Matt and Nick Jackson are two of the hottest and most talented competitors in professional wrestling today. Known as the Young Bucks, this pair of ambitious brothers are an inspiration to both fans and aspiring wrestlers worldwide due to their message of resilience and determination. That they are also faithful family men devoted to their loved ones gives them additional appeal.

A warm, heartfelt story of hope, perseverance, and undying ambition told with the brothers’ wit and charm, Young Bucks begins in Southern California, where two young boys grew up dreaming of success and fame. Matt and Nick look back on the sacrifices they made to achieve their ambitions, from taking odd jobs to pay for their own wrestling ring to hosting backyard events with friends. They share their joy at being recruited into the amateur California circuit and the work it took to finally make it professionally, and speak frankly about what it means to have the support of millions of fans cheering their talents in arenas nationwide. The Young Bucks talk endearingly about their sport, their faith, and their families, sharing personal reflections and behind-the-scenes anecdotes while paying tribute to the wrestling acts and inspirations that came before them. They also elaborate on this historical time in the evolution of wrestling, as the sport and its culture dramatically change day by day.

Alternating between each brother’s perspective from chapter to chapter, this entertaining memoir is a complete portrait of what it means to grow into - and give back to - wrestling, the sport and profession they embody and love.

Never seen them wrestle....

No idea who they are, but I decided to download and listen as I loved Andre The Giant book, Jim Ross and another WWF book I can't remember.

Great stories and it starts right from when they were young kids to present day so plenty of information to make the book long but still interesting.

I enjoyed it regardless of never seeing them wrestle. Seem like two genuine people who were/are involved in wrestling for the right reasons. It's their passion.

I'd highly recommend listening.

An Elite Wrestling Book

A tremendous listen aside from a few mispronounciations. Enjoyed the hell out of it. I've been familiar with the Bucks, BC and all affiliations for a while and am an avid fan of AEW but I never knew much of the backstory of the Bucks.

An excellent and compelling story that should appeal massively to wrestling fans and even engage those who may not be. The narrator was very good too. As I say, a few mispronounced names were only mildly distracting, and a little amusing, but didn't detract from the performance of the story.

Modern Wrestling Classic

I have followed the Young Bucks since the TNA day and listening to this has not only given me insight to their experience but nostalgia for following them on the way. If you’re a lapsed wresting fan or don’t know too much about the indies, this is the audiobook to listen to!

Great book.

Very enjoyable. My only complaints. Not narrated by the authors. Because there is only one narrator, it's sometimes hard to know which Jackson has written a chapter.

a great book for Wrestling fans

the story follows The Young Bucks through their younger years to the opening of AEW. if you are a wrestling fan you'll love all of the backstage news and events.

the person reading it did say a few names wrong, but that's my only issue. I wish it wa them who read it.

so much better than I expected

Have never been and never will be a fan of the young bucks but I've developed some respect for them after this book from them, people can say what they want about them but they've worked their arses off to get where they are today. I didn't think I'd like this as much as I did in the end .... well worth checking out if you haven't already

great story

They really put themselves over well. I didn't particularly like them before the book. They seemed very arrogant even as faces but they come across as so much more humble and full of self doubt and concerns which makes them more endearing

Fantastic Book, Mediocre Narrator

A fantastic book, and a great insight into the Young Bucks careers and lives.

The narrator (who has previously butchered wrestlers names in the ECW audiobook) continues his run of mispronouncing performer names. As a singluar example, I'm sure Falé will not be impressed with being called "Big Fail"

Still a great listen as there aren't as many mispronounciations as his previous efforts and it's a great story

Research names.

So many things are mispronounced it became a drinking game while listening. Even actors names get messed up.

YOUNG BUCKS! YOUNG BUCKS!

Great listen from start to finish. A few mispronunciation of some of the wrestlers’ names but can be forgiven.

All Elite

Loved it! Very well written & delivered.

My only (petty) complaints are:
1. Would have preferred two narrators since the story is told from two different perspectives.
2. Narrator was obviously not familiar with wrestling. He mispronounced multiple wrestler names.

it was a great book

I love it I wanted to get the physical copy but I don't have the space for it in my room ,so I had to get audible because it wouldn't take space it really show me pro wrestlers don't need to be in the wwe to be big in pro wrestling I knew the young bucks as generation me in Tna Impact this book tells you about their life and how they got to the top without the wwe even though they were extras for wwe I will truly be a life long fan of the Young Bucks it should be a documentary someday I hope it becomes a best seller.

Wow

So let me say I'm only 4 years younger than Nick so some of these references hit home. I loved the story and hearing their experiences.

Would have loved the Bucks to narrate

This would be a way better listen if it was narrated by the Bucks themselves. It was amazing, but with them narrating, it for have been 6 stars.

Good Read Even for Casual Wrestling Fans

Even if you don't watch wrestling you can enjoy this book. There are a lot of name drops of wrestlers you might not know but it's a great story of having a dream and doing anything it takes to go after it. it's funny and touching. It gives a good peak behind the curtain at what wrestling entails and how hard these athletes work.
