About this listen
Sometimes, it’s best to mind your own business. Felix Eastwood is your average guy, except for the fact that he can see the spirits of the dead. Lilith Lavelle is a fraudulent psychic, plying her trade on social media. When Felix stumbles across an advertisement for Lilith Lavelle’s Psychic Cleansing Services, he hires her under the pretense that his family is being haunted, hoping to expose her as a scam artist. By trying to play the hero, Felix puts his family in grave danger. In the aftermath of Lilith’s visit, Felix finds himself haunted for real by something claiming to be his dead wife; something that is out for blood.
The problem is, Felix invited it in. And it doesn’t want to leave.

Supernatural storytelling- on the edge of my seat.

It's not perfect, but for it's length it doesn't need to be. You will however need to listen to the bonus content at the end if you want the conclusion to come in a nice, neat format you can finish without questioning the loose threads at the finale. Thankfully, the bonus content, while separate to the main story is a great pallet cleanse that will both neatly conclude this story but leave you wanting more.
My only gripe is that the narration was acceptable, if not fantastic - functional but not adding to the vibe and atmosphere of horror. I look forward to seeing if Jules builds on this in the future or writes more in the same vein.
Surprising dark towards the end but just right.

It's somehow deadpan while delivering gutpunches.
Much more going on than I expected at the beginning, this delivers some really brutal scenes that will stay with me.
I look forward to re-listening during spooky season.
Don't want to describe the book too much to avoid giving anything away.
If you enjoy emotionally charged body horror, add this to your TBR.
Editing after my second listen before I start the sequel:
I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this, the pop culture references, Goosebumps anyone.
Titled chapters too, a real treat.
It starts so sweet and innocent but it ends in a very dark place.
Looking forward to listening to number two now.
Dark, emotional horror that will stay with me.
