About this listen

Number one New York Times best-selling author Dr. Daniel Amen reveals the seven neuroscience secrets to becoming more than 30 percent happier in just 30 days - regardless of your age, upbringing, genetics, or current situation.

Happiness is a brain function. With a healthier brain always comes a happier life.

After studying more than 200,000 brain scans of people from 155 countries, Dr. Amen has discovered five primary brain types and seven neuroscience secrets that influence happiness. In You, Happier, he explains them and offers practical science-based strategies for optimizing your happiness.

Dr. Amen will teach you how to:

  • Discover your brain type based on your personality and create happiness strategies best suited to you;
  • Improve your overall brain health to consistently enhance your mood;
  • Protect your happiness by distancing yourself from the “noise” in your head;
  • And make seven simple decisions and ask seven daily questions to enhance your happiness.

Creating consistent happiness is a daily journey. In You, Happier, Dr. Amen walks you through neuroscience-based habits, rituals, and choices that will boost your mood and help you live each day with clearly defined values, purpose, and goals.

I found this after seeing Daniel Amen interviewed on Louis Holmes' YouTube channel. While there is perhaps a bit too much promotion of his own products, there is so much to be gleaned from this book that I can't imagine anyone deriving no benefit from it. I am recommending to friends and will be reading more by Amen.

A really helpful read, recommend!

I has helped me understand my own brain and behaviours better. This book will never be a waste. Thank you Dr Amen

I would read anything Dr Amen writes

Some interesting parts but hard work and tedious. Mainly an advert for authors own practice.

Very dull reading

I've listened to a lot of books written by sympathetic therapists who appreciate people's differences and try to help them engage in the world. Although I agree with tips like focus on the small stuff, the author talks about bad and good people and bad behaviour meaning you eat sugar rich food and drink alcohol. He infers there is only one right way. He also refences God & religion a lot (with a Christian bias) so if you are not aligned with his view it's distracting and irritating. I didn't finish the book because there are other authors who are a better fit for me.

too dictatorial for me
