About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

This Penguin Classic is performed by Aimee Lou Wood, star of Netflix's Sex Education. This definitive recording includes an introduction by Pauline Nestor.

Lockwood, the new tenant of Thrushcross Grange on the bleak Yorkshire moors, is forced to seek shelter one night at Wuthering Heights, the home of his landlord. There he discovers the history of the tempestuous events that took place years before: of the intense passion between the foundling Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, and her betrayal of him. As Heathcliff's bitterness and vengeance is visited upon the next generation, their innocent heirs must struggle to escape the legacy of the past.

The book is a classic for a reason. The introduction is useful. However, the performance is a real triumph. Well worth your time, even if, like me, this is not your first time with Wuthering Heights.

Exceptional Performance

I love Wuthering Heights and this is the best single reader audio version there has ever been. Everyone is brought to life beautifully, a real sense of every character through their speech. So enjoyable to hear an actual northern person 🙏🏻

I have listened to Wuthering Heights quite recently but as I wanted to read this and Jane Eyre and Tenant of Wildfell Hall together I was browsing Audible for different versions. I paid for Aimee Lou Wood’s version and I wasn’t disappointed. I think it feels more like an epic poem than a novel and she brought out the beauty of the language and the humanity of the characters. I loved it and I highly recommend doing the marathon of all three from Penguin.

A fluent and vivid reading of a beloved novel
