Fugitive ex-special forces operative Tom Rollins is en route to Mexico when he is forced to detour into the small town of Brenton, Texas, a place whose glory days are far behind it. A powerful criminal family, the McQuades, runs things now, and they don’t take kindly to strangers.

Can't really comment on the storyline as I simply could not stand the narration any longer. I did give him a chance and hoped that I would get used to it. This my second and last Tom Rollins Audible! He gets the voices completely wrong for the characters, making them winey or old, when that should not be the case. Worst of all is the over the top intensity, during fights etc......so so hammy! At times he's JUST SHOUTING!! Then he'll do it if someone's just opening a can of beans or something normal. It's quite funny, but ruins the book.

As an English man, I've enjoyed listening to many Americans interpretation of storytelling on Audible and I don't understand why some reviews didn't get the Narrators Vibe 🤔
