Story
The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

Summary
Wrong Place is the next gripping crime novel from Michelle Davies, following her critically acclaimed debut Gone Astray.
When a man fails in his attempt to murder his wife and then commit suicide, DC Maggie Neville is assigned to be the surviving woman's Family Liaison Officer.
As the husband lies in a coma in hospital, the wife sets about making sure everyone knows he's guilty. But there's something about her story that doesn't ring true to Maggie.
Digging deeper, she finds an unexpected link between the couple's case and a series of burglaries she and her colleagues are investigating in the local area - and the mysterious disappearance of a young woman 20 years ago.

Good read
This was a bit of a slow burner, but does quickly pick up the pace. This is the second book with DC Maggie Neville, and the characters certainly develop and evolve. The story itself was good, and I didn't guess the ending. Buy this one if you like seeing books from a police perspective and if you like seeing a story from different points of view. Overall very enjoyable and was sorry it finished.

Great story, beautifully read
I really enjoyed this book and found myself rewinding quite a lot so as not to miss any detail.
I am usually wary of thrillers as I can't cope with anything too grisly, but although this did contain some gruesome elements, the story was so intriguing that it kept me listening. The characters are very well drawn and believable, and the narrator brings them out beautifully, using accents and individual voices without ever overdoing them.
I can't wait to listen to the author's first book, and I really hope she brings us more of DC Maggie Neville soon.

A good detective story
I enjoy this series but I’m getting a bit fed up with the annoying back story. I know having a tortured home life is part of this genre but there is too much of the annoying sister
Apart from that the police aspect is very good.

I enjoyed this but ...
Every child knows 'their rights' these days, with social media and easy access to this via the ever present mobile phone so I found myself quite irate at the naivety of Bea falling for the the outright lies of her 'boy'friend and how they even met in the first place was not really explained to my satisfaction, nor did he get his comeuppance, this left me dissatisfied.
But overall, the story was good, if somewhat naive. But what really annoyed me was the finale (sorry, I should say denouement as appears to be the latest fashion here on audible but I can't stand the word).
Maggie really seems a bit dim in this book (if I'm allowed to say such things), and slow on the uptake compared to her stellar performance in 'Gone Astray' where she was a real detecting genius. I do like her as a character though, despite her faults, I cannot stand Maggie's whiny sister however, and her parents are just plain loathsome in their judgmental and unforgiving attitudes.
The story line is good, despite my complaints, and I LOVE the narrator, Clare Wille is fantastic, a new favourite for me.
To sum up, take a chance, it's worth it, the story is good, the narration is super, some of the characterisation is dubious (but only according to me), this is a great police procedural, I do not think anyone will be disappointed by this book.
