Summary

So wrong it's right…

When grumpy firefighter Leo finally answers the wrong number text he's been getting for several days, he has no idea pixels on a screen could be so hot - or make him want things he's never wanted before.

Dixie has always been quiet, shy, and reserved. Until she "meets" Leo. He's got the once shy librarian shedding her inhibitions and growing her confidence in their texts and calls - and it even starts spilling out into her everyday life. Part of her revels in her secret life - but part of her secretly wishes for more.

They never share more than first names, but each texting encounter gets hotter and hotter - and more intimate than either of them ever imagined. But you can't trust a stranger on the phone. Not really. You can't ache for something you've never had. And you certainly can't fall in love with someone you've never even met, can you?

Author Confession: Welcome to Brazen Bay, a small town I crafted just to explore that feeling of so wrong it's right. Just because something is forbidden or taboo doesn't make it wrong, does it? (You'd have to see the pictures on their phones to answer that.) Gruff Leo and sweet Dixie are perfect strangers and perfectly naughty when they let their guards down with someone for the first time. What starts as an innocent wrong number turns into something much more daring. Bonus points if you listen to this wrong number romance on your phone.

nothing but.....

This book is a lot of phoneplay and sex until the last 30 min. It is quick and kinda dirty (not muddy but more dusty) listen. The "story" didn't hold my interest as there wasn't much content.

Try the digital/print version instead

This story probably worked a lot better in ebook rather than audio. There is so much texting between the two of them that it became monotonous to hear their names so much. The narrator does fine with female voices. Her male voice has a nice tone, but it sounded choppy and robotic. This audiobook just didn't work for me, but I wouldn't discourage anyone else from reading it.

Fun

Such a fun audio, I so fell in love with the two main characters. And it always makes me smile no matter how often I listen to it.

Wrong Text Answered by the Fire Captain

After being involved in a car accident where the offender gives her the wrong phone number, Dixie sends him a text trying to get his insurance information, and it goes to Leo. Dixie and Leo start an on-line relationship until they meet at a baby’s party. It turns out he is the baby’s Godfather and she is the baby’s Godmother. Leo ends up taking her to his home. After they get to know each other intimately, Leo is called in for a fire and he ends up getting hurt while saving someone else. This is a really good short book and I recommend you give a try. Meghan Kelly did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Playful and Steamy!

What a great premise this story had! What is the chance of texting to the wrong person? It's amazing how with today's technology, you can get to know someone without ever meeting them. In this case, Dixie texts Leo by accident, and their responses back and forth lead to the beginning of a fun and loving relationship. It's full of witty banter, great conversation and passionate texting to make you blush. And when Leo and Dixie do finally meet, the chemistry is high! But do you really know who you are talking to? Will the relationship build or is the mystique gone? Brill Harper has added laughter and passion to texting and made this book a lot of fun to listen to. It's a quick, playful listen and I can't wait to meet more people in Brazen, Bay! Narrating text can be a challenge, but Meghan Kelly performs it flawlessly. She goes back and forth between the characters of Dixie and Leo without missing a beat, changing voices and adding the building passion this couple has. She creates their world, brings it to the front when they meet and lets us live through her voices. Another great performance!

Cute love story!

I found it a little bit confusing when the book started off with text messages. I had to re-listen to the first chapter to wrap my head around it. Once I got the hang of it, it seemed to flow just fine. It’s a sweet & short love story, at times cheesy but cute nonetheless. Meghan, the narrator, did an awesome job! It felt like two people were reading it. I love the way Meghan translates the emotions through each scene. It makes a good book even better!

The Wrong Number - The Right Combination

This story is my first by this author, in fact, I only decided to listen to it because of who was narrating it, I just love the way Meghan Kelly narrates. Leo is out with the guys who work with him at his firehouse, he's their chief so although they are friends he does keep lots of his feelings to himself. He receives a text from a number he doesn't recognize and as it's not the first one he's had from this number he decides to answer it, just to tell them they have a wrong number. Dixie is and always has been shy, and reserved she's that way with everyone that is until she connects with Leo. This texting goes on for a while and eventually they speak with each other and soon he has the once shy librarian shedding her inhibitions and growing in confidence. They reveal their inner desires to each other and feelings become involved - but they still haven't met or exchanged more than their first names. Each time they talk their relationship (for want of a better word) gets hotter and more intimate than either of them ever imagined it could. But before they can actually meet she runs scared and ends their relationship. Leo has no idea of how to find her and goes back to being his grumpy self. Then the unexpected happens and they meet in real life! I'm not going to say more except that this story is well done, the writing style is easy, the chemistry is hot and the narration by Meghan Kelly was every bit as good as I thought it would be. I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Fun, but too short

fun story. the sexting started too fast, but given how short the book was, it probably had to. also due to the shortness of the book I feel this should have part of the escape package... it wasn't worth a credit or the $5.
