Summary

International best-selling phenomenon Mel Robbins has inspired millions to change their lives - and now she'll help you get ahead, get paid, and change your work life.

Women get mixed messages about how to succeed at work, and research shows that much of the career advice aimed at men doesn't even work for women. We’re left wondering: How do you say no without being labeled difficult? How do you get paid what you’re worth? What can you do when you start to doubt yourself? Should you go for that next big promotion, even though it’ll impact your family? What do you do when you’re feeling invisible and unappreciated?

Known for being 2018’s most-booked female speaker in the world and now a nationally-syndicated talk show host, Mel Robbins answers these questions and more with research-based strategies that you can put into action immediately. In this mix of one-on-one career coaching sessions and personal narrative, you’ll laugh, learn, and be inspired to get ahead at work - all while getting more enjoyment out of your life. No matter where you are professionally, Work It Out will give you the tools you need to create the career of your dreams.

One of the most inspiring books I have listened to

I'm I work from home Mum so not all content applied to me. However it was so inspiring to hear others stories, there will definitely be at least one that applies to you. Mel has given me the confidence to know that I can be successful in what I do & now I'm going to own it 😉

Very inspirational

This book really resonated with me, and there were snippets from each of the case studies that I could take away and work with. I like that there is a work book to allow you to put all your thoughts down and gain your own take aways. I see myself listening to this a second time as there are so many key points that it will always be possible to learn something new the second time listening. I work in a very male dominant environment (construction) and although I have a voice I always find the my voice is ignored or spoken over, so I hope to use some tools from this to take the next step.

Amazing book full of powerful tools

Another brilliant book by Mel Robbins. I love her audiobooks. She is so real and her coaching method is so good. I have already started to apply what I’ve learned. Looking forward for the new Mel’s book!
Thanks Mel

Always love listening to Mel

So, I’m not in the corporate world, but I do work, I have ‘baggage’ from my past that I’m still carrying with me and I could relate to many of the ladies featured- bringing up kids, being out of the work loop, underplaying part time and voluntary work etc.
I was still able to relate several pieces to my own life that I can take with me and use to cut the straps from the bags that still weigh me down. I now feel more empowered as I move forward into my next chapter.
Thank you Mel and the team x💕

My sister from another mother

Mel has a way of tellling us the truth about our actions straight out of the bag, but you never doubt that it's with great love. I have tons of take aways from this audio, even though I'm not applying for a job or is in a career with many advancement opportunities. A lot of the advice can be used on the home front as well. Thank you Mel ❤️❤️

I love Mel Robbins!

I love Mel Robbins and love all her books. My only problem with this book is quite a bit of advice mentions a partner and having your significant other help with this, that, and the other. As someone who is single, it's frustrating advice because me starting any type of business, or switching jobs, is never going to be a balance with my partner... Or having a partner take on something so you can fulfill a goal. Aside from that, awesome book

Mel will change the world

As an already accomplished business owner, the first minutes into the book I thought “this book probably isn’t for me.” Then I got to chapter 2 and holy crap- Mel spoke to me yet again. I knew I loved her for a reason. She’s changing the world for the better one small action at a time. You gotta listen to this one!

Worth the time

Although this isn’t a quick listen (I have very little time these days), I’m giving my review 5 stars! It was chock full of great advice in each segment. Although I resonated most with the last woman, Rachel - I took away helpful information from each of the 5 sessions. Quality advice that will help me as I go out into the world to search for a job after being a stay at home mom for the last 17 years. Thank you, Mel!!! P.S. I love your voice!

Horrible!

I hardly ever write reviews but felt I had to warn people about this book because it had so many great reviews. All I can say is thank goodness Audible lets you exchange books (by the way, did you know that? Wonderful feature). This book was more of a therapy session than a business book. I am a small business owner and I was really excited to listen to this book. I am a pretty strong person and have a fairly successful business, but I'm always looking to improve myself. I couldn't get through more than 45 minutes of this book. I really gave it a chance, I listened to two of the women's stories and just had to shut it off. Let's just say there's a reason why these women in the book have problems. They don't need a business coach they need a therapist. I can see how this book may be helpful for women who are pushovers, have low self-esteem and other similar issues. But if you are a business woman looking to up your business game, this is NOT the book for you.

Compelling, useful, and entertaining

This book may be called "Work It Out," but it goes far deeper than just our careers and work. So far, in listening to Mel's deep coaching and takeaways, I have learned that the challenges we face in our work are the same ones we have had throughout our lives. And while listening to each session I can see myself in every single one, and even better -- I get a clear understanding of how it can be changed immediately. This book, like all of Mel's work, stands out from the many "tips" and "hacks" we receive about how to be more productive and successful and instead focuses on how we can spot our subtle missteps and have the life and careers we have always wanted. 5 stars all around.

Cannot stop listening!!

WOW. This came out yesterday and I’m already almost all the way through. Mel dives deep into the past/stories of each guest and gets to the REAL root of the issue that they are facing. I just love her approach - straight to the point and no BS - but so caring at the same time. I feel so empowered already. Incredible.

Mel at her best!

Listening to these one-on-one coaching sessions is very inspiring. Mel is so good at getting to the heart of the matter and delicately handling her participants' emotions, then succinctly guiding them to the answers they need.. She combines just the right amounts of hand-holding and kick-in-the-ass motivation! Although this audio book is marketed to working women, I think the advice would be helpful to anyone, including stay-at-home parents, who sometimes are juggling more "work" than society likes to acknowledge. Also, the online companion workbook is an added bonus for anyone who wants to roll up her sleeves and use the exercises to course correct.

A must listen for women

Mel nails it again. I'm an HR Manager and the advice is spot on. She goes deeper and explains so much. You'll learn and grow. Thank you Mel for another awesome listen.

SO much useful coaching

I'll be honest. I'm only three sessions in but ALREADY I am blown away by how much I am learning. And just like Mel's last two Audible audiobooks, I somehow seem to relate with every session. I just wish I'd had this book twenty years ago because I would have done things so much differently in my jobs, and definitely while looking for jobs. I have to digest all this stuff but I can't wait to try out the nuggets I've got so far. Thanks, Mel!

Much Needed Advice

I listened to 45 minutes at a time on my afternoon commute. I still will go though the workbook. I feel unpacked, and like the workbook is going to cinch up a lot of what I heard and learned. In different ways, I identify with each of these women. Each of the insights were brilliant. I laughed, I cried (like 3 times and during the closing), I FEEL empowered. Mel is funny, gracious, blunt - everything that YOU need to hear that you didn't realize you needed to hear. This may not be THE thing that resolves EVERYTHING you're experiencing, but it's a heck of a good start. Maybe even listen with a friend on a weekly basis and go through your workbooks together.
