Superb! Nice ending!

Retired FBI agent Jeremy Winter, with the help of his FBI girlfriend and others, seeks to find the person who murdered his wife and their unborn daughter over a decade earlier. Book 3 in this excellent series by Tom Threadgill is at least as good as the earlier books. Narration by Drew Bott took some time to become accustomed to but it earns 5 stars.

Best in the series (so far I hope)!!!!

This is the third book in the Jeremy Winter series and I think it might just be the best one so far.
In this book Winter is retired FBI and recovering from an injury. Walking with a cane he’s not a very imposing figure. With nothing to do but help care for his fiancé’s young daughter he decides to try once again to look for his wife’s murderer. She was shot in a parking lot after buying items for their unborn child.
While looking for his wife’s killer he comes across a serial killer who sees himself as a protector. He only goes after men who abuse their women. Somehow though, Winter believes this man is involved with his wife’s murder. Winter’s fiancé is able to assist in a limited amount because she is still in the FBI.
The story takes quite a few turns and a few red herrings but when the killer is finally revealed - WOW! This was someone I would have never guessed.
Drew Bott does a great job narrating.

Thrilling book with unexpected ending!!

Tom did an outstanding job developing the characters and writing a clean, thrilling story! I have to agree with Shelley from Raleigh, NC and say Drew Bott did an outstanding job with his narration. Clean editing, great voices (his southern female voice was great!) and he added the perfect amount of emotion. Drew has a deeper voice that's easy on the ears and his several voices are very well done. No crazy, falsetto female voices!

The story is very good with believable characters and real emotions. It's obvious Tom Threadgill uses an editor as there were zero grammatical errors or stilted dialogue between characters. It is easy to sit down and just listen to. It does leave you at each chapter end wanting to jump right into the next one.

And the ending!! I did NOT see that coming! Just a superbly written story!

Clean listen. Not one curse word or sexual reference. The violence in the book is described in a manner that you know what's going on but Mr. Threadgill leaves out the gratuitous gory details. My opinion is you can listen with kids in the car and not worry about having to explain something uncomfortable. That is the mark of a great author - telling a story so well that you don't need to have sex or low-brow language prop it up.

I would listen to it again. Great narration by Mr. Bott brings the story to life! Well done Tom Threadgill!

Too bad they changed narrators

THis is the 3rd in this series and it's better than the previous two, which were great. The writing is excellent, the main characters have believable dialogue, there's humor thrown in which is sometimes rare in murder mysteries. The narration in the first two books was some of the best I've heard, this narrator was the absolute worst. The only reason I listened till the end was because I enjoy this author so much, but I will never listen to a book narrated by Drew Bott again.
