Summary

Performed by Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton, the emotional, intense, and sexy romance Winning with Him is the second novel in the utterly addictive Men of Summer series!

Resisting the shortstop has never been my strong suit. I failed at it during my first spring training. It sure as hell looks like I'm about to fail at it again.

The sport I love playing with my very soul hangs in the balance. But everything my heart craves lies with the guy I've got to resist.

A guy who's asking me to make the toughest choice ever.

But how do I become the man I want to be...with him or without him?

Trouble is, I can't seem to get Declan out of my head, even if I stand to lose everything I've worked for my entire life...

Winning with Him is book two in the utterly addictive Men of Summer series and should be listened to following Scoring with Him. This romance between two professional athletes spans five epic years.

Absolutely amazing!

I absolutely loved this book, even more than the first one in the duet. I was lucky to receive an early copy of the audiobook, and hearing the story of Declan and Grant made me love it even more. It made me slow down and really listen to them. The first 2/3 of the book tugged on my heartstrings, feel all the emotions while they were feeling them as well, and I had a silly grin on my face throughout the final third! This was the perfect second chance romance, where nothing felt easy or over the top.

The story also deals with very heavy topics, most notably alcoholism and the effects on those suffering from it and how it effects people in their environments as well. How it was handled it felt raw and real, and I think it’s so important to include these hard times in books.

Cougars V Comets - Game On

Well after that ‘little’ cliffie that Lauren left us with at the end of book 1, I must say I was relieved I didn’t have to wait too long for the conclusion to Declan and Grant’s story. I loved their story, and book 2 focuses on their newfound friendship, and I loved that there was no talk of other relationships (I don’t think my heart could have taken it). I hoped with all my heart that they could open up and trust in each other. I hate that it took five years. I always feel let down and disappointed for the characters when things don’t go as I planned them in my head. I was so happy that there was no longer the forbidden romance aspect, but then we go and get the long distance thing, oh and the stubborn selfless love aspect. My heart can’t take it. A little family drama in the mix, and a whole lotta down and dirty, I just love these two together. Not forgetting that Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan narrate, and what a job they do. Oh so believable. My emotions were all over the place. A bit of advice. Be aware of your surroundings whilst reading/listening. This is hot, hot, hot. I loved it.

Declan and Grant are so good for each other

Oh, Declan and Grant, you swoony smitten hunks!

The second act of the Men of Summer series is just as satisfying as the first act, Scoring With Him, was heartbreaking. We get to experience the passage of time between when Declan and Grant first fell in love until they finally have the courage and chance to go for their happily ever after. I love that we not only got to experience them reunite, but we also got a taste of how they spent the intervening years, and how they were quite over each other.

Declan did so much emotional work to make sure that he was ready and able to be the partner that he wanted Grant to have, that he thought Grant deserved. He had so much healing to do, and he was aware that he needed to do it first, he wanted to do to it first, even if it meant his missed his chance. And Grant took his role as not only a star athlete, but as a role model and agent for change and acceptance seriously. They both had something important and worthwhile to focus on during their time apart, and it made them better partners for each other in the long run.

Their official unveiling as a couple - that was simply perfect! The reaction of their friends was priceless, and it was such a classic Lauren Blakely scene.

The narration by Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan is just really so good. They both bring so much emotion and passion to their performances, and you could hear the smiles in their voices during happy times, as well as the frustration during bad times. They are both two of my favorite narrators, and for good reason.

Another swing for the fences hit by LB

Loved everything about this amazing story. Grant and Declan are now 2 of my favorite people. I was so angry at the end of the first book, and now I can't wait for more of their story. Jacob and Teddy nailed the narration as always, but added so much to this story with their performance.

Yes

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. On so many levels it was as if snippets of my experiences were utilized… perhaps another way of stating this, there were universal circumstances that lead me towards empathy. I also felt that inclusion of addiction was handled with care and balance. The narrators were perfect for this series. I feel compelled to say “thank you” for this enjoyable read.

Heart wrenching

Fabulous unforgettable love story so beautifully written by Lauren Blakely. Emotional narration by two amazing narrators Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan. I fell in love with Grant and Declan in Book one of this series and grew to love them even more in this continuation of the Men of Summer series.

Winning with Him

"You're my walk-off home run."

Winning with Him is about growth, healing, and proving that second chances are worth the wait and the fight.

Declan’s past surfaces which causes him to panic and sacrifice everything he and Grant had developed. Grant is heartbroken by Declan's actions and throws everything he has into his baseball career. Declan realizes the mistakes he made and after an enlightening conversation with his mom, Declan starts his path to better himself and win back Grant.

Declan and Grant ripped out my heart in Scoring with Him and kept me on the edge of my seat all through Winning with Him cheering them on to make their way back to each other. The connection between them could not be denied and they were smoking hot when they were together. I can not wait for the continuation of their story in All In with Him as I can not get enough of these two.

Audio ... Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan did another amazing job narrating the story and bringing it all to life.

Winning with Him is a m/m, second chance, baseball romance in the Men of Summer series told in the first-person point of view of Declan and Grant.

2nd installment as good as the first

sex sense were Hot AF, person growth was inspiring (love means sharing your life with the one you love, even the ugly parts), also hearing the POV of LGBTQ is helpful for a cis-hetero person interested in learning so she can support.

Just as great as book one!

As with book one, the continuing story of Duke and Grant checked all.of my boxes...dynamic and relatable characters that I became totally invested in, sizzling hot chemistry, interesting plot and the absolute best narrator performances that brought the book to life. Im on to book three and hoping for more! Thank.you for writing this Lauren and thanks for pairing Teddy & Jacob! Perfect collaboration!

so amazing

I love this book... absolutely everything about it has drawn me into the series. it has the classic Lauren Blakely feel with a man on man twist.... only thing I just like is waiting for the next book and she gave two book teasers at the end of this and the one isn't even available yet on audio to add to my wish list or pre-order

Can’t get enough of these two!

I was worried that the span of time covered in this book (years) was going to be a problem for me, as I don’t like the main couple to spend a long time apart. Thankfully, Lauren Blakely took such great care with this story, their relationship, their individual growth, and the eventual HEA that I barely even noticed the passing of time. Some authors jump forward so abruptly and with too many things left unsaid or a terrible misunderstanding, but this love story avoids those pitfalls that can really ruin a book for me. I appreciate how LB really tackles some difficult issues like alcoholism, strained family dynamics, and setting boundaries and champions the need for therapy and that it can be a long and painful process, but ultimately so necessary for many characters to move forward in their lives and relationships. And if you think that this book is all about the feels then let me just say WHEW! Lauren Blakely KNOWS how to turn up the heat and have you blushing with the incendiary chemistry between Grant and Declan. Hot and heavy, sweet and tender, sensitive and sexy, this book has it all. Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan will have you squirming in your seat, smiling to yourself, and generally wishing you were a fly on the wall of this perfectly crafted romantic tale of two seemingly star-crossed lovers hoping to find their HEA. Beautifully written, perfectly cast, and brilliantly performed, this audiobook (and series) is totally worth the time and credits. Next up, All in With Him to hear the extended HEA.
