『やまなし』の小さな谷川の底をうつした幻燈という設定は、草創期の新芸術、映画に寄せる賢治の関心の深さをうかがわせます。子どものカニの小さな目玉が水中カメラになって、ふりそそぐ光とゆらめく影、泡や魚、天井をすべる樺の花びらをうつしだします。
