Summary

I was 21 when the gypsy read my future:

As punishment for your crimes, you will only love one woman...but she'll never love you back.

I didn't believe a word of it.

Until I met Sofia Romano almost 10 years later.

I fell hard for this woman. Would die for this woman.

But she left me.

Now, years have passed, and Sofia needs a husband. Her father is gone, and her mother is trying to marry her off to a man that can protect their family, protect their company.

She's looking for someone powerful.

Check.

Someone rich.

Check.

Someone handsome.

Double check.

Now, it's my chance to have the only woman I've ever loved...and I'll make sure she feels the same way.

I have a lifetime to make that happen.

DELIVER ME FROM THIS FEMALE NARRATION

I rarely review books anymore however PS is one of my favorite writers but this book has been ruined by the narration of Lia. She has a nice voice but for content not dialogue. She is VERY DRAMATIC AND ROBOTIC and I hate it but now I have 7 books in this series to be tortured through. This is not a series I would keep because I couldn’t deal with the narration so I won’t listen a second time . On to book two and I’m not as excited as I would be if it was Samantha,Andi,Erin,Maxine or Wesleigh reading Sophia. MICHAEL F WAS STELLAR AS USUAL 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Romantic Genius

Penelope sky always brings her A-game. This story has it all. It's swoon worthy, scintillating, sensuous, and sexy. This story is equivalent to a cup of hot chocolate on a snowy day. It has all the elements for this romantic genre: a feisty, stubborn female lead that's in a constant state of denial, and a handsome, passionate, rich, determined male lead. Michael Ferraiulo's rich, sexy voice brings Hades to life. I'll buy anything he narrates. His versatility in voice selections is phenomenal. And, I think Lia Langola did a fantastic job as Sofia. I was very satisfied with her male voice. She was very expressive. This is very much a cliffhanger that I'm hanging on to finish. I can imagine the the fireworks that will ensue. Penelope Sky is a writer who knows how to tell a story. I am now waiting for The Skull King series to be completed. It's been almost a year that I've been waiting for The Skull Ruler to come out. I love all of her series, but I wish this one would be completed.

Hades and Sofia

So this my first Sky book and I like the whole gypsy business and dived in... but I'm not sure I liked what I read. The book is sexual from start to finish, the story in itself is interesting but I didn't buy the behaviors of the characters. This is a summary of the whole story... don't read if you don't want to. The story starts when Hades is 21 and goes to Morocco with his best friend to celebrate, they see a sign for a fortune teller and decide to enter, she tells his friend some random stuff about his future life, love, and money. But when it comes to Hades, she asks his friend to leave so she can speak to him alone. She tells him he's got a dark soul, he'll get all the wealth and power he dreams of and more. He'll do horrible things, kill people and then God will punish him. He'll fall in love with a woman who will never love him back, he will marry her and they'll have two children but no matter how much he loves her she won't love him back, and that is his punishment. He tries to laugh it off but the gypsy knew his name. Years pass, he becomes a mafia boss, a huge distributor of narcotics and drugs lives in Italy and rules. One night, a friend of his throws a ball in his hotel, he attends and is attracted to his daughter who's 18 Sofia. Sofia is bald, smokes, beautiful and wants to live like a man. She dreams of running the hotel one day and wants independence. She just wants to be different than her mother, who is in an abusive marriage but thinks it's better to be with a powerful man than fighting in the ugly world. Sofia and Hades share a heated moment in the ball and she goes off to college, after four years, her father dies and she returns to run the hotel but her mother and stepfather are against this. The hotel is a coverup for mob activities and no woman can run it unless she is married to one of the strong mob leaders... here comes Hades. They start dating, more like fuck buddies, and he wants more, she doesn't. He gives her an ultimatum, they break up, his heart is broken, she just doesn't care. The ending is that her mom tells her she made a deal with Hades after two years of their break up and her stepfather's death that she will marry him for the freedom it will give her to run her father's hotel. She agrees, and the book ends. Hades is immoral and so is Sofia, he thinks he is fair and good and only "kills the bad guys". I find that mafia books are filled with such guys and relationships... of making sins normal.

The Narrator Maybe??

I'm not sure if it was the actual character or the portrayal of the character but the female in this novel was ABSOLUTELY ANNOYING! I am trying to give Lia Langola the benefit of the doubt and say that it was the actual character and the way she was written...but I just kept waiting for the female chapters to end throughout the entire book. I love Penelope Sky and was not a fan when she started to use Natalie Eaton as her female narrator (I loved when she used Samantha Cooke), so I just stopped buying her audiobooks. I have listed to Lia before and I have liked her before so naturally when I saw her name I got excited again and jumped at the opportunity to use my credit to purchase this book, but was disappointed all over again. I really can't be sure if it's just that this character was just THAT annoying or if Lia just annoyingly/over-performed her...either way this was my least favorite of her female characters out of all her female leads. Sorry, but maybe you can figure out whether it's the character or the narrator...enter at your own risk!

What Quarantine?

Lay out in the sun and enjoy! I wish I hadn’t read ahead about the reviews for future titles. As I’m about to start Husband, I’m anxious. Penelope Sky is an author who can always take me away with her, no matter what she’s written. So I’m along for this ride with her. Best Wishes Penelope!

A THRILLING START, A STEAMY CENTER & A CLIFFY END

I love love love Penelope Sky’s stories, I’ve got just about all of her audiobooks released and I cannot contain my excitement when a new book of hers is release.. however, I do get fed-up being drip-fed these very addictive stories. So, even though I’ve had this book in my library since it’s release date, I’ve resisted listening to it because I wanted to hear the Betrothed series from start to finish in one sitting. And my plan was working well until yesterday!! when I finally caved and started listening to it.. and now I’m utterly, completely and annoyingly hooked. Hooked into a push ‘n pull sexy story about Sofia, a strong young woman who, on witnessing her parent’s dysfunctional abusive marriage, absolutely wants nothing to do with love.. not even when a handsome, sexy Kingpin Drug Dealer sweeps her off her feet. Hades rates 11 out of 10 for his masterful (and plentiful) bedroom skills, kills to protect her and offers her the ultimate commitment.. but Hades has always been a ‘no strings’ Player and now he’s met his match. So he treads carefully.. but how can he convince Sofia to lower those impenetrable walls.. or maybe the Gypsy Teller was right all those years ago when she read his cards which promised heartache. Worth a credit? Yes definitely.. and I’m quickly writing this review as books 2 and 3 in the series are being downloaded because they’re that good, that addictive, that emotionally compelling and that well-written paced and weaved. The chemistry is undeniable, the sex is plentiful, the characters have depth and the passion purrs along nicely. Awesome narration too. But I wish wish wish they were just released as trilogies instead of going on and on over 4, 5 or 6 books (4 for this couple).. or, as with some of her previous series, Audible never quite gives us the last few books in the series before starting a brand new one. But sigh, I love Penelope’s work and, as a fan, I guess I’ll just have to patiently wait after each cliffhanger ending, ponder the next one’s release date, pray its imminent and hit play the minute it’s released.
