Summary

A compilation of USA Today best-selling author Bronwen Evans' fabulous Regency historical romances. Wicked Wagers trilogy, the complete set. Three notorious rakes and three determined ladies collide in this set of three linked Regency romance stories, all based around a series of scandalous dares, wagers, and challenges.

To Dare the Duke of Dangerfield (Top five finalist in the Kindle Book Review Indie Romance Book of the Year 2012): Lady Caitlin Southall's temper has finally got the better of her. She's challenged Harlow Telford - the duke of Dangerfield and the most notorious rake in all of England - to a wager. She wants her house back. The one her destitute father lost to Dangerfield in a card game. But if she doesn't win their bet, she not only loses her home; she loses her dignity and pride - and damn it all, maybe her heart.... For the handsome Duke has decreed that when he wins, she must spend the night in his bed.

Harlow Telford is amused by his hellion neighbor, Caitlin, or Cate to her friends, who seem to encompass everyone on Earth except him. When she bursts into one of his private gatherings, he mistakes her for the entertainment. Her slap across his face sets him straight and raises the absurd desire to seduce the unconventional beauty into his bed. When she issues her daft challenge to win back her father's pile of rubble, the terms are set. And he'll do anything to win - except fall in love....

To Wager the Marquis of Wolverstone: Marcus Danvers, the marquis of Wolverstone, is renowned for his cynical demeanor. It's rumored that long ago, a beautiful woman broke his heart. Now he lives life for pleasure. He's the consummate, handsome rake. If anyone tries to get too close - let's just say his bark is as bad as his bite. That is until the beautiful-as-she-is-deceitful Contessa Orsini reenters.

Great collection!

Very good stories. Could have done with less erotica but otherwise excellent. I especially liked the fact that the heroines in the stories were not meek misses... they are all presented as kind, moral, strong women who are pursued by men who are totally in love with them. The icing on the cake the performance by Marian Hussey, she is superb!

Loved the first and third book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because you get to listen to three stories at once.

Also, I found Marian Hussey to be a pleasant narrator with good pacing. She can do a nice husky male voice which made the heroes all the more convincing. I’d listen to her again.

Any additional comments?

To Dare the Duke of Dangerfield is my favorite in the trilogy. I love how tenacious Lady Caitlin “Cate” Southall is to see her future secure. She is also smart to demand the contests be fair.

To Wager the Marquis of Wolverstone is my least favorite in the trilogy. I didn't really like either the hero or heroine.

To Challenge the Earl of Cravenswood is also wonderful. You have to enjoy a heroine who can trick a hero and get him to look for a fake lost pet for an hour.

Love and passion triumph in three witty stories

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Wicked Wages is a series of three delightful novellas. I would recommend Wicked Wagers to all lovers of romance and historical fiction, especially Regency romances.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the sparkling dialogue and the tension between the couples as they negotiate the dance of love. The characters were real and grounded. I would love to meet them, especially Caitlin and Harlow.

Which scene was your favorite?

To Dare the Duke of Dangerfield was my favourite story, filled with both humour and drama. Although it is difficult to pick a favourite moment, I did love the initial meeting between Caitlin and Harlow.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I often laughed at the witty dialogue and surprising situations that all six of the main characters got themselves into.

Any additional comments?

This is the story of three friends, Harlow, the Duke of Dangerfield, Marcus, the Marquis of Wolverstone and Henry St Giles, Earl of Cravenswood, and how they fall in love with three very different but adorable women, determined Caitlin, courageous Sabine and kind, generous Amy.

Loved this Trilogy! 3 Great Stories and Narration!

Wow what great stories. Gotta love 3 great stories in one book.

The first story is To Dare the Duke of Dangerfield, with Caitlin Southall and Harlow Telford, the Duke of Dangerfield. Loved this story. Really liked the wicked wager they started, cards, cake baking and a horse race. They had some great chemistry together and very nicely written sex scene. The was lots and lots of dialogue throughout the entire book! Love lots of dialogue. The story line and plot were great. About 130 pages long.

The second story is To Wager the Marquis of Wolverstone, with Sabine and Marcus Danvers the marquis of Wolverstone. I enjoyed this story too. She had a bit of a brutal past but overcame it. Asking the man she loved for 10 years for help with destroying someone. Again great story line and plot. Great chemistry between them and a nicely written sex scene as well. Lots of dialogue throughout the story. About 138 pages long.

The third story is To Challenge the Earl, with Amy Shipton and Henry St. Giles the Earl of Cravenswood. Great story too. Cracked me up at one point when she was hiding under his bed and he decides to pleasure himself! Totally LOL! They too had great chemistry and a very nicely written sex scene. The story line and plot were good. Lots of dialogue throughout the book! About 152 pages long.

These were not long stories so they were not full of filler nonsense, which is a total treat for me!

As for the narration of Marian Hussey, it was fantastic! Loved it. She did all the men's voices very well and gave everyone a voice. She read with emotion.

I totally recommend this trilogy book and this narrator!

Wonderful trilogy. Great heroes...

Totally enjoyed this audible trilogy. I think my favorite was the Earl of Cravenswood. Henry is every woman’s dream, I think- honorable, handsome, honest and loyal. But I’m really glad not to have to choose. I’d encourage you to select this if you want an addictive story you just cannot get enough of!

Eh... Insipid and Weak Storyline

Let me start by saying I absolutely love historical romance. More from the concept that despite mainstream some men and women defy "society" and do what is ethical and fair.

These stories appeared to have strong characters both men and women but they where all simpering, children, fearful of their own feelings to the point of stupidity.

The whole he or she did me wrong or I had a tough privileged life so I am going to run from life....got old fast. Suck it up and grow a pair...

Spoiled rich kids comes to mind when reading this story along with predictability.

Whoo...stop and read!

It seems that these stories move along without must of anything interesting happening! No lead up to whatever, no whatever happens after...just a fast moving story without much dialog between the characters or towards the final story line....! Very full of fluff and non-stuff happening!!
