About this listen

Discover how to perform under pressure and play your best when it matters most. Wicked Smart Golf III is your roadmap for thriving in tournament golf—whether you're playing your first event or chasing your next big win. Written by +2 handicap and mental golf coach Michael Leonard, this audiobook delivers proven strategies to help you compete with confidence, stay consistent, and perform like a seasoned player—without changing your swing.

Drawing from over 350 days of competitive experience, including Korn Ferry Tour Q-School, state and city amateur championships, and elite team events, this book goes beyond generic advice. Instead, you’ll get practical tools and a step-by-step framework to help you show up fully prepared, manage nerves, and stay composed under pressure.

If Wicked Smart Golf helped you play better without swing changes and Wicked Smart Golf II gave you the blueprint to break 80 consistently, this third installment takes you inside the ropes—where mindset, routine, and tournament strategy matter most.

You’ll learn how to find the right events for your game, train with purpose, and prepare mentally and physically to perform your best. You’ll also discover how to reset after bad shots, manage energy across 18 holes, and adapt your strategy for one-day qualifiers, multiday events, match play, and team competitions. Finally, you’ll build a post-round reflection process that reinforces confidence and helps you grow with each round.

This isn’t about playing perfect golf. It’s about making smarter decisions, staying calm under pressure, and creating a repeatable system you can trust in the heat of competition.

Whether you want to win your club championship, qualify for elite amateur events, or simply play your best when it matters most, Wicked Smart Golf III will help you think, prepare, and compete like a true tournament golfer. Press play and take your competitive game to the next level.

I’ve read a lot of golf books, some of them more than once, mainly Dr Bob Rotella’s. I really like the way he thinks about the game and the stories he uses. That said, a lot of those books were written quite a while ago, so reading something more modern has been a bit of an eye-opener.

There’s a lot of information in this book, which is actually a good thing, but it would be hard to take everything in at once. Because of that, I’ve picked out the parts that really spoke to me and that I feel will help my game the most. I also bought the physical copy so I could highlight sections and keep going back to them.

I’ve already got around ten things I want to start using in my game, like the yellow/red card idea, pre-shot and post-shot routines, pre-round rituals, and a few others. Having the audiobook as well has helped me take even more of it in.

I’d definitely recommend this book and the audiobook to anyone looking to improve their game — 10 out of 10.

This book and it's previous siblings, are without doubt the most comprehensive guide to reducing your score. The stories that back up the lesson; the plain language which leaves you in no doubt and the excellent narration by the author, who has the passion in his voice, deliver in spades. I have taken this advice and, literally within weeks, am seeing the results.
Thank you

This book is a clever book, and not just another "golf self help" book. Its clear Michael has put in some thought to what would actually. It is definitely worth a listen.

There are two things I think need highlighting - 1) This is part of a trio of books, the books are all good but not intended to be read trio so if you read the other books there is a bit of overall, but a reminder is not a bad thing. 2) I dont play too much tournament golf, but what is in the book is still very good stuff!

Also - Michael has a pod cast, that I have listened to selected episodes based on the book - good bonus!

Disclosure: I got the book given.

Clever, useful book!
