When the Irish assassin falls for his neurodivergent girl next door, who keeps emotional support plants...

I’m the reaper my enemies never see coming.

Then I go home to an empty flat where the silence has turned deafening.

That changes when my beautiful, neurodivergent neighbor, who’s decided I’m her boyfriend, starts breaking into my home.

And leaving me plants.

It’s harmless. She’s harmless.

Until the night she’s in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Fallon Nova should’ve run when she saw me kill a man.

Instead, she stayed and patched me up.

Now she’s a witness.

And witnesses don’t live long in my world.

When all she wants is a date for the holidays in exchange for her silence, I tell myself I can fake it.

But pretending ends the second she kisses me and makes me want things I can’t have.

I want her. All of her in ways that have me in a chokehold.

She might have fallen first, but I fall harder.

And when someone from her past tries to take her away from me, everyone will see what kind of monster loving Fallon has turned me into...

Finally we have the irish assassin Rhys story and it doesn't disappoint! Rhys has known a lot of death and solitude, he got use to it but when his beautiful and quirky neighbour Fallon suddenly starts leaving him plants inside his apartment, and calling him her boyfriend he finds it harmless and even more alarmingly he is drawn to her, until she witnesses him end a life and instead of running she continues as if nothing happened, when Rhys asks what she wants in exchange for silence, she doesnt pass up the opportunity to have him as part of her highly organised holiday events including Christmas with her father. Witnesses dont live, its a rule he lives by but he cant end Fallon so he agrees to her request, not knowing how close it will bring them together for real or that her past isnt as simple and its back. Fallon is amazing for what she went through and her ways of coping with life with her plants (even Basil) and how Rhys is there and knows her more than anyone ever could to be there for her and ground her is just amazing, Deborah has done an incredible job and truly given Fallon and Rhys characteristics and a story to be proud of. What a way to end the series and start another!

Audio- Narrated in duet by Allyson Voller & Aaron Shedlock, they bring the story and characters to life with vivid details, depth of tones and emotions that have you feeling like yuor right there in the room watching the scenes play out. these two played Fallon and Rhys to perfection!

Deborah Garland welcomes you back to her “Quinlan Empire” and the amazing Irish Mafia world she created with another fantastic novel, a unique romance like no other. This fourth book of the series is Rhys Quinlan and Fallon Nova’s story, and I loved everything about it, well almost everything since I was a fan of her father, his treatment of her, or his plans. Rhys is the Quinlan’s enforcer, a trained assassin, and Fallon is his quirky neighbor, and after meeting them in an earlier book, I knew they were going to be something special, individually and together, even better together. Seeing him accept her eccentricities and put up with her antics in the most nonchalant just warmed my heart, and Fallon with all her struggles just captured my heart. Her inner dialogue was brilliant, though not always inner since she spoke out loud to herself and to her plants, which she named and nurtured. In her mind, Rhys was her boyfriend, and he was her obsession, second to her plants. After seeing something she should not have, he asked what she wanted to keep quiet, and her request was not one he was expecting, but he easily agreed to it: to attend upcoming holiday events with her and become her fake boyfriend. I loved how everything played out in this masterfully crafted, multilayered story, a story that captivated my attention and tugged at my heartstrings the entire time. There is never a dull moment, and has the perfect balance of drama, angst, witty dialogue and banter, heartwarming moments, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, and a slow-burn but so worth the wait romance. It was great to see the Quinlan's come together when it all hit the fan, the O’Rourke’s had their back. As always, the writing, plot, and world-building are clever and incredible, as are the character growth and development. Deborah Garland, you have outdone yourself once again! Thank you for this fabulously entertaining and brilliant story, the wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And speaking of fabulously entertaining and brilliant, this audiobook is just that, thanks to the superbly talented Allyson Voller and Aaron Shedlock, who delivered an incredible performance voicing the characters. They embodied their characters completely, grasping every aspect of their personalities, with Voller nailed it as Fallon and Shedlock as Rhys, and both were fantastic performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. Voller was amazing in Fallon’s role, handling her quirkiness, witty dialogue and the conversations with her plants brilliantly, and her voices for the plants were brilliant too. Shedlock was just as amazing in Rhys’ role, Irish accent and all. Their expressive delivery conveys all the character’s emotions, making you feel each one. These two are versatile voice artists, and their captivating performance not only keeps you glued to the story, but it takes the already amazing story to another level.
