I took boxing several years ago and learned that the sport is not about brute force and strength which is what I thought it was. It’s a lot more about movement, form, and above all technique. It’s important to have correct form and technique when moving and punching otherwise you waste a lot of energy and leave yourself open to hard blows. If you want to get your form and technique down, this is the guide. Written by a boxing coach it will uncover the many mistakes you are making and fine tune your skills. You’ll be surprised how a few hour listen of this book can refine your practice.

I really enjoyed this book on boxing techniques. As someone who's been casually interested in boxing but nervous about learning bad form, it was helpful to get guidance from a coach who's clearly very experienced. He does a nice job walking through common mistakes at all skill levels and providing specific drills to correct them. It wasn't a boring technical manual either - he also offers tips on developing confidence and patience, which I think are important for any new trainee. I appreciated the practical approach too, with an emphasis on motion over muscle. Overall it seems like a solid resource, whether the goal is self-defense training or just getting a full-body workout. I feel like I have a better foundation now to potentially try some classes without embarrassment.
