Summary

Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun? is the inspiring story of Reginald Lewis: lawyer, Wall Street wizard, philanthropist - and the wealthiest Black man in American history.

When six-year-old Reginald Lewis overheard his grandparents discussing employment discrimination against African Americans, he asked, “Why should white guys have all the fun?" This self-assured child would grow up to become the CEO of Beatrice International and one of the most successful entrepreneurs ever. At the time of his death in 1993, his personal fortune was estimated in excess of $400 million and his vast commercial empire spanned four continents. Despite the notoriety surrounding Lewis's financial coups, little has been written about the life of this remarkable man. Based on Lewis's unfinished autobiography, as well as scores of interviews with family, friends, and colleagues, the book cuts through the myth and media hype to reveal the man behind the legend. What emerges is a vivid portrait of a proud, fiercely determined individual with a razor-sharp tongue - and an intellect to match.

It has been years since I read WSWG and listening to it really makes it come alive. Amazing window into the life and career of a business icon with insights, strategies and above all, inspiration.

Excellent book, audiobook made it better

Mr Lewis has inspired many people of color like me — to dream big and keep going until we achieve it. His daughter’s new Foreword / Tribute is touching and makes his story relevant to today. JD Jackson as narrator gave Mr Lewis’ voice the proper treatment and respect. I daresay I enjoyed listening to it more now than when I first read it several years ago. Thank you Audible and the Lewis family for making this available to a whole new generation of dreamers and doers!

Why this narrator?

I’m absolutely livid that I couldn’t get through what would be the first page, but the instant disconnection I had once I heard Christina Lewis’s voice was so mentally disruptive it prompted me to give this “Warning”. I will be reading this the old fashion way smh.

Life altering

This book altered my thinking and changed my life. I'd already planned on going from poverty and unsuccessful to wealthy and successful. But Reginald Lewis' example made me increase my ambition, and gave me another avenue to consider on the journey to becoming a successful businessman. Its a shame that more young blacks dont know about him. But thank God for Reginald Lewis.
