About this listen

David Gemmell was the UK's number one fantasy and historical novelist until his death in 2006. A regular Sunday Times best seller and international sensation, his legacy lives on through his novels, his influence on the genre and the David Gemmell Legend awards.

White Knight/Black Swan was David Gemmell's crime thriller debut, first published under a pseudonym in 1993 and long out of print and highly sought after by fans. Reedited and republished under his own name, it's a must-listen for fans of his heroic and powerful style.

In an action-filled story set in working-class London in the 1980s, Jardine is a bouncer and gang enforcer with a heart of gold. To protect a friend, he goes up against an Irishman demanding protection money - only to realise too late that they work for the same employer. One act of kindness will lead to murder, betrayal, blackmail and some long-hidden secrets....

Bimbo is such a great character and it is a great pity that there won’t be any more books with him in it. I would like to see this story as a movie, in fact I would like to see any David Gemmell story turned into a film. The narration was very good with the individual characters being distinct which all you can hope for with an audiobook.

Great character

Dont worry about the other DG books you've enjoyed, this was a pleasure to listen to.

Different but just as enjoyable

Slow start, but was interested to see the conclusion. David Gemmell was excellent at heroic fantasy, I preferred his previous writing but still enjoyed the book.

Good to read a David Gemmell again

Gemmell is my fave fantasy author so this was fascinating as I can see the consistent themes coming through in a (more) contemporary setting

a new but familiar experience

Well told story of evil and good with a flawed central character. Not your typical David Gemmel; but another well told story with solid characters

Not what. I expected
