Edge of the seat stuff

Love. Love. LOVE this book. I enjoy stories where the younger characters have some depth to them rather than reverting back to cliches about teenagers. In this respect the book reminded me a lot of the Maze Runner trilogy. If you like hacker/cybercrime themes then this will be right up your street. The narrator did a fantastic job on the ensemble voice work and I can't wait for a sequel.

captivating

The author has created an intriguing if somewhat frustrating character of Nigel the business savvy gamer. he fits the story well and it is interesting to watch the development of this character. the story is thrilling and explores the cyber hacking world which is gathering popularity recently with films such as 'ready player one' which i thoroughly enjoyed as much as i enjoyed this audiobook.

An excellent listen

This is such an exciting and thrilling story. The book is full of suspense and always manages to keep the listener eagerly waiting for what's coming next. The whole cyber/hacker theme is so exciting for me and I think it really adds to the drama! I would definitely recommend listening to the whole thing at one if possible! Perfect for a long flight or a quiet evening!

Amazingly Engaging Cyber Thriller

This is the time where internet runs everything in todays world. The amount of detail that went into cyber security systems is really interesting for me. The main character comes from a point of view of a gamer that put vasts amounts of dedication and disclipline in his craft. But uses his skills and is pulled into a dark world where he never imgined he was in. He signed up to be a cybernet hacker and uses his skills in the book. I recommend this book 100% to anyone and is super engaging and thrilling!

Not very believable

I wanted to like this book especially as I'm interested in Cyber security, cyber crime, hacking and computer forensics etc, but it just didn't work for me. Maybe if I was a young adult or teen it might have fit better, perhaps my 18 year old son might appreciate it more. n the intro to the book the author states that he changed a few product names for copyright reasons and I understand that but knowing most of what the "pretend" products/terms really are makes the story that much less believable, less immersive. The writing style itself is, in my opinion, quite immature and definitely more suited to the YA audience than to adult readers. To much Mr.Henry this, Mr. Henry, that, Mr. Henry the other blah blah. All in all the story simply wasn't too believable, too many unrealistic actions, reactions, plots etc. The ending leaves a number of unanswered questions obviously setting up a sequel but I'm simply not interested enough to bother with another episode of this. The narrator does a credible job. I received a free copy of this audiobook either from the author or a promotion or giveaway and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

What a ride!

I had fun recognizing some of the cleverly renamed technologies, security protocols, and software that I actually use in my daily work at a 3-letter government agency. White Hat Black Heart was a ton of fun, some of it in-game! Think Ready Player One meets Bourne Identity, but with better characters. I would follow Nigel and Jet anywhere and will definitely continue reading the Cyber Teen Project audiobook series. I am recommending this audiobook to my 17yo son, who also levels-up in-game characters for his friends. But, I hope he doesn't get into the kind of trouble Nigel finds himself in.

A quick paced, reality based, cyber thrill ride!

What a great book. Bought this for my nephew and he raved about it. So I thought I'd give it a go as well. As an adult—I enjoyed it as well! Great theme and takeaway lessons for real-life cyber security. Fast paced and action packed. I really enjoyed it! My nephew is certainly excited about the next book that's for sure! A win and congratulations to D.B. Goodwin, you really knocked it out of the park on this one!

Innovative listening

I enjoyed listening to this book. The story is very captivating, and all the details about cybersecurity are so well mixed in the narration that it might seem that this book is just a regular thriller, but hey, it is so much more! Just by listening to it, the author will screw in your mind important information about cybersecurity (as a start, multifactor identification). I find fascinating all is behind protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks that I genuinely think this book is something that all the teens or even adults that are approaching the topic will enjoy and find it interesting and useful.

Presently surprised and looking forward to more by this author

This was my first time listening to D. B. Goodin and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The story is captivating and I listened to the entire book in only 4 days! (I usually listen to little bits on my short commute but actually ends up listening to this audiobook at work, while working because I just couldn't stop!) The characters are well developed and the author does well to make them very easy to relate to. The narration was generally good and did not interfere with the book. I would recommend this to anyone even mildly technologically inclined. I look forward to book 2!
