Summary

At seventy-six years old, Dan McLeod has already said goodbye to the love of his life. After fifty-four years of marriage, Sarah is gone, leaving behind a silence that no amount of time seems able to fill. Dan sets out alone into the remote wilderness of northern Manitoba with a simple mission: carry Sarah's ashes back to the lake and cabin they left behind fifty years ago.The journey is anything but simple. As the miles wear him down, Dan faces relentless rain, freezing temperatures, isolation, and the growing limits of an aging body. Along the way, memories of a lifetime together accompany him through the forests, across rivers, and into the vast Canadian backcountry. Every step forces him to confront grief, regret, love, and the question that haunts anyone left behind:How do you keep living after the person you love is gone?Part wilderness adventure, part meditation on loss, and ultimately a celebration of a life well lived, Where the Wolves Waitis a moving story about devotion, resilience, and finding peace when the trail reaches its end.For anyone who has loved deeply, lost painfully, and searched for the strength to take one more step forward.©2026 B.
