Personal conversations, universal connections
If you could sum up Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel in three words, what would they be?
Powerful, fascinating, uplifting
What was one of the most memorable moments of Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel?
Esther: 'Ok, do you want to be right, or do you want to listen?'
Have you listened to any of the narrator’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I haven't. Esther has a beautiful, soft French accent that provides a calm, safe space for the participants. You can hear the emotion in their voices too. Powerful stuff.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Every episode has a moment of connection, where - despite the particular circumstances of the couple's experiences - their fears and struggles resonated with me personally.

Mind blowing!
Would you consider the audio edition of Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel to be better than the print version?
I prefer the audible version of books. It makes me understand books better. I hardly read printed books. I have not this book in print either.
What other book might you compare Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel to, and why?
The Examined Life by Stephen Grosz. This books also gives real life stories that I feel I can connect and understand. However, Esther's book goes even further by providing the true narrative of ordinary people. It is fantastic and so so so useful. Helpfult to all of us.
What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Narrative expressed by the person with feeling and connection
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I so wanted to finish this recording in one setting, but did not have time but got through so quickly. Now I feel bereft and I want to listen more.

Terrible psychological advice. Victim blaming.
The psychiatrist blames a woman for a man cheating before and after their marriage. The woman deserves better than being told she needs to stop being right. Stop telling them to focus on how the man is feeling. Tell the woman she deserves better than to be treated like this. Very unhealthy.

Fascinating insights into couples relationships.
A fascinating insight into couples relationships and the issues that they are facing. Often times what they think is the problem is just a symptom of underlying issues that Esther expertly draws out into the open and allows them to deal with. Whether you are interested in learning more about couples therapy or interested in the psychological aspect of counselling this series will give you plenty to think about. Definitely recommend.

Highly recommended!
Esther makes a lot of sense!..... wish I'd known about her earlier, it definitely makes you look back on your own relationships. It helps you understand that even though experiencing unfaithfulness from a partner is deeply hurtful, there is almost always reasons for their actions, very often it's down to miscommunication/ no communication, but mainly it's to do with the person who's cheating. often when someone has been unfaithful to you, you stay in victim mode, you blame yourself, maybe you weren't sexy enough, beautiful enough, good enough. Esther allows you another view point, that you can only see if you come out of victim mode, and coming out of victim mode is very empowering.

Thoughtful
Esther is very thoughtful. I loved how she helps change the narrative script on people’s relationships. Sometimes you get too stuck in the story you keep telling yourself

Excellent! A Life Changing Listening Experience
In one episode this has changed one huge point of communication in my spouse and my relationship. It was eye opening to hear something (it wasn’t the sex part either, lol) that would be so important for our marriage! I didn’t want to turn this on, out of pain for my own personal place in life. I am so grateful this is here and that I was able to listen. I can’t wait to hear more! The whole world needs things just like this, so all can grow and become healthy! Thank you Ester! P.S. That was my Grandmas twin sisters name

Not as good as the Esther other works
I love the Esther's incites into relationships, this collection of sessions fails to bring her knowledge, unlike her other works. Also, a little difficult to hear the couples (bad recording). For some reason, Audible does not show finished / Unfinished status - so this title forever stays in your "Unfinished" titles list, even if you listen to the whole thing.

We need more!
I listened to both seasons as soon as I found out they were available. I love the real life look into challenges and the perspective that Esther brings to these conversations. I suggest these episodes to friends often and to anyone interested in new perspective. So many stories different than mine but so much good relatable content. I can’t get enough!

VERY insightful, relatable & enlightening!
I found this episode VERY insightful. I relate to SO much of what this couple is going through, even though my marriage hasn't suffered any infidelity.
This episode is undeniable proof in my opinion, that ineffective/defective communication, verbal & non- verbal, is a universal killer of happy marriages & it does NOT discriminate!
