Michael Robotham is one of my top authors, but this was a real disappointment. I felt I was listening to chicklit rather than suspense. The narrator didn't help - this narrator would be much more suited to Bridget Jones' Diary than a suspense thriller. The voice was just not right for the novel, and I mean no disrespect to Katy Sobey, who, I am sure, is the perfect voice for other genres. The male voices were not well performed, and the main character came across as weak and whiny. I might give this novel another go, but in print rather than audio. Somehow, though, I think not. I expected boxing gloves, and got a predictable, somewhat toothless feather duster.

I had a real problem with the narrator on this book. She had a strange inflection at the end of sentences which was annoying. The story was ok but not as good as pervious titles by this author

Terrible Narration

Main character naive for police officer. She makes problems for herself, however without the problems there would be no plot.
She complains a lot about things that are of her own making, so lost sympathy with her.
Very easy to listen to though as with Michael Rowbotham's books

I did enjoy the book but have to agree with others that it was not quite up to Michael Robotham’s normal extremely high standard. He is definitely up there with my favourite authors and has Sean Barrett narrating (also brilliant!). I still rate the book and the narrator was good but I do think it would have been better not to have the standard RP accent for an East End girl!
