About this listen

He saved my heart. She owns my soul.

From USA Today best-selling author Claudia Burgoa comes the highly anticipated conclusion to The Downfall of Us Duet.

The first time I saw her, I had a feeling about her.

It was the hypnotizing indigo eyes. Her smile. Her.

I find myself drawn to her music. I can’t stop thinking about her voice. I’m captivated by her beauty. I don’t understand the bond between us. Also, I belong to someone else.

He put me together when I was broken. He loved me when I couldn’t stand on my own two feet. We fought for our freedom. But still, I feel incomplete. Piper Decker might own a piece of me. But Derek Hastings claimed me when I was broken. Can I belong to two people? Can we coexist as one and find our forever?

When Forever Finds Us is a heartwrenching story of finding who you are before you can offer your heart.

Piper finds herself not only dealing with a family situation, but she realizes that even though the man she loves is alive he isn’t the man she knew and the future they had planned is not longer possible.

Derek knows that he loves both Finn and Piper as he finds himself trying to be there for both of them determined for them to find a way to all be together despite the pain of the past.

Finn is struggling as he tries to balance the life he doesn’t remember with the new life he created and where he fits in both as well as when it comes to Piper and Finn.

They take us on an emotional rollercoaster that encompasses the past as well as the present as they fight for a future that will give all three of them what they need. The performance of the narrators is heartfelt which allows you to relate to the characters and all the angst they are going through

I absolutely loved book 1 in the duet but for me this one fell a bit short of what I was expecting.
8 years after Archer disappeared, Piper, Finn and Derek are all now aware of who each other is to one another. Of course there’s no such thing as coincidence as they are meant for each other so fate brought them together independently of what’s been going on in their lives since that ill fated mission in the Amazon.
I loved the mercenary/spy angle of the books and that’s what kept me hooked to the storyline but I also like my books with a good romance plot. The previous book showed us Archer, the loving, doting husband and the love letters/videos he left Piper in case of his death and I’ve been secretly rooting for Archer to come back. We have also witnessed the relationship Derek and Piper developed as colleagues and friends and how Piper struggled to grieve Archer and give Derek a chance. I struggled to see how Finn and Derek’s relationship developed emotionally as it was always a more physical or lustful relationship, specially from Finn’s perspective as he suffered a severe head injury that changed the way his brain works forever. I also feel the same way with the love relationship between all three. However, I also understand the book moves forward several months at a time so we don’t really see the development, we just know it’s there. Would I have liked to see more of this development? Yes!!! I feel it would have given the book that little romantic edge I was looking for and it would have felt less rushed.
In the end I was happy they all found their way to each other and were happy to live happily ever after.

Just like in the previous book, there’s not much else to say about the amazing job the narrators did in this book. Jason Clarke brings the best version of Finn and Archer to life; Lance Greenfield voices the strong and brave Derek, whilst Maxine Mitchell lends her voice to Piper, the amazing and kind hearted heroine both heroes love to love.

Audiobook review: Narrated by Maxine Mitchell, Lance Greenfield and Jason Clarke
4.5 stars for story / 5 stars for performance

Once again, amazing conclusion to another epic duet by Claudia Burgoa. Finn/Archer has been in my mind throughout several of the past duets from this author and I feel immensely satisfied that his story was told so well. Derek's character was one of my favorites. His love of both Finn and Piper was so all encompassing and the patience he showed with both his love interests was refreshing to experience. Piper was amazing throughout. Her commitment to Archer and understanding towards Finn and his situation made her the ultimate FMC and I had the utmost respect for her in this story. Another beautiful written story.

The narration, once again, was EPIC. Maxine Mitchell can do no wrong! I had to keep reminding myself that this was not a duet style narration because her skill at differentiating between characters is top tier. Lance Greenfield and Jason Clarke were both amazing and brought so much emotion to Finn and Derek's characters. The audiobook was great and I'm so glad I experienced this story in this medium.

Another amazing audiobook!!
