About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Colm Healy used to be one of the Met's best detectives. Until, haunted by the unsolved murders of a mother and her twin daughters, his failure to find an elusive killer left his life in ruins.
Missing persons investigator David Raker is the only friend Healy has left. As they reopen the investigation together, Raker learns the hard way how this case breeds obsession - and how an unsolvable puzzle can break even the best detective.
Their search takes them down a trail of darkness, unravelling a thread of tragedy, and forces them to sacrifice everything they have left.

Weaver has become one of this country's most respected, bestselling crime writers, and he fully deserves to be . . . Written with elegance and craft, What Remains is a luminous example of what a talent Weaver is. Catch him at once
David Raker has joined a select band of fictional characters whose return in a new book excites existing fans and collects new ones . . . one of the most vibrant and unusual protagonists in modern crime fiction

There is no faulting Tim Weaver’s excellent writing and it’s testament to his skills, that make the reader love the sleuthing duo that is Raker and Healey. Wonderful characters which are enhanced by the equally wonderful Joe Coen and Brendan McDonald. The stories that feature both of these characters are simply marvellous and are among my most favourite Raker books. Tim Weaver’s stories are involved and intricate, yet unfold in such a way that the reader/listener is easily drawn in. More Raker books please and more Coen and McDonald. They are the perfect narrators. Any Tim Weaver novel
Is an absolute joy and I highly recommend getting one - now!!!!

The perfect pair of sleuths

I’m glad to have licensed to this book. Read later books first and wanted to know the background. Sad story, how pain affects people? Waiting to start the next two books to finally get in line with where I started. Excellent writing

Another fantastic book by Tim Weaver and the David Raker series. Loved every minute of it!

Enthralling plot throughout

This is the first of the David Raker series in which I struggled to want to finish the book. It was difficult to follow where all the characters fitted into the story, and in which decade. I found the plot confusing and uninteresting. I loved the series until this point but this one has not had the impact of the previous books.

Disapointed

I usually enjoy Tim Weaver but this book I thought was dreadful. Much too long and the only book I have actually ever shouted at with frustration. Why did I finish it? I thought there must be a reason to it all, but I finished it without caring about any of the characters, totally implausible plot and boring. The narration was good though.

I got to the end. Why?..
