About this listen

You don’t find love. Love finds you … in New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe’s tender and emotionally charged story.

When grumpy, muscled-up artist Bennett Bishop bothers to speak, it’s usually to say something you’re not ready to hear.

When he first speaks to Norah Ellis, a rambling runaway bride who hitchhikes a ride from him, it’s to tell her to get out of his truck and walk because she’s a pain in the …

By appearance, Norah Ellis is a fancy fashionista who’s spent the last several years living the good life in the city—expensive apartments, highbrow events, and a fiancé with wealth and good looks. The only problem is that she didn’t choose any of it for herself.

On the day of her July wedding, Norah’s world turns upside down, thanks to a letter from a stranger. She runs for the small town in Vermont she used to call home, but what’s waiting for her, between her estranged sister, the townspeople, and bad-boy Bennett Bishop himself, is way more than she bargained for.

Enemies turn to lovers, strangers become friends, dark secrets bust open like cans of worms, and most of all … summer will never be the same.

"Some books feel personal when you read them, like you can tell the writer poured extra in. That's this story. I dreamed about it all night. What an unforgettable journey."—Kim Holden, Bestselling Author of Bright Side.

A happily ever after meets real life heartbreak

I don't often write reviews, but this book deserves one; it encapsulates the happiness and sadness of life, the balance of light and shadows. I cried with both laughter and sadness. Some reviewers have criticised the lack of content warnings, and yes, it covers very difficult topics, but books which have a more challenging thread are also more rewarding, giving the listener a mirror to reflect on their own lives.
As always CJ Bloom and Sebastian York are superb narrators, bringing out the full range of emotions this book deserves

Everything....

This was a truly moving, heart-breaking story. You will absolutely be sobbing in the later half of this book as it navigates through some truly devasting . The narration was outstanding; both voice actors delivered deeply emotional performances that brought the characters to life and really delivered in those key moments.

I felt some of the antagonist figures in the story were portrayed a bit cartoonishly evil, but they were very minor blemishes on what is otherwise nuanced and thoughtful storytelling.

Definitely recommend this if you enjoy a more bittersweet kind of romance.

Heartbreaking but Beautiful

This is a story that has comedy, mystery, some suspense but overall scenes that move you deeply, especially about a lovely little girl called Summer. I rarely cry even when enthralled in a book but there were parts of this book when I sobbed uncontrollably.
Claire Bloom and SebYo were brilliant. I loved Claire’s slightly ironic tone at times and SebYo has mastered the grump hero to a tee. But it was their narration of the tragic side of this story that brought me to my knees. Amazing voice acting conveying so many emotions, especially the agony of grief and loss.
I recommend this book as a great listen and can’t wait to listen to the next book about Nora’s sister.

A special story
