About this listen

Getting drunk homecoming night your senior year is never a good idea, but Jake Hayes never expected it all to end with a car crash and a t-post embedded in his throat.

His biggest regret about it all? What he never said to Samantha Shay. He's been in love with her for years and never had the guts to tell her. Now it's too late. Because after that night, Jake will never be able to talk again.

When Jake returns to his small island home, population 5,000, he'll have to learn how to deal with being mute. He also finds that his family isn't limited to his six brothers and sisters, that sometimes an entire island is watching out for you. And when he gets the chance to spend more time with Samantha, she'll help him learn that not being able to talk isn't the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Maybe, if she'll let him, Jake will finally tell her what he didn't say before, even if he can't actually say it.

Where does What I Didn't Say rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was the first audiobook I listened to here on Audible and is still my favourite. The story is beautiful and believible.

What other book might you compare What I Didn't Say to, and why?

What I Didn't Say is a YA fiction, being 15 myself, I really enjoyed it but I wouldn't say that it is purely for young adults, Anyone with an imagination could enjoy this book.

Have you listened to any of Matthew Dunehoo’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to anything else of Matthew Dunehoo's work but i certainly would if an opertunity were to present its self. He has a, i almost want to say generic voice. I do not mean this in anegative way whatsoever. I often find that some voices overpower the role or are difficult to listen to, Matthew Dunehoo is definitely none of these. He fits the role perfectly and it very easy and pleasent to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

There is very little i can criticize about the book or the narrator. The only thing i can say is the narrator pauses at strange points in a sentence. This is definitely not something i would refuse to listen for, simply an observation.

Any additional comments?

Overall a very pleasing listen, if you're stuck with what to purchase, definitely give this one a go!
