Summary

‘I was pregnant with the baby of a man I had met once.
What was one normally left with after a first date? A bad case of thrush?’

After eight years together, Lil Bailey thought she’d already found ‘the one’ - that is, until he dumped her for a blonde 20-something colleague. So she does what any self-respecting singleton would do: swipes right, puts on her best bra and finds herself on a first date with a handsome mountaineer called Max. What’s the worst that can happen?

Well it’s pretty bad actually. First Max ghosts her and then, after weeing on a stick (but mostly her hands), a few weeks later Lil discovers she’s pregnant. She’s single, 31 and living in a thimble-sized flat in London - it’s hardly the happily ever after she was looking for.

Lil’s ready to do the baby thing on her own - it can’t be that hard, right? But she should probably tell Max, if she can track him down. Surely he’s not that Max, the highly eligible, headline-grabbing son of Lord and Lady Rushbrooke, currently trekking up a mountain in South Asia? Oh, maybe he wasn’t ignoring Lil after all....

Funny and Warm

I thought that it was quite cool that the author read the book because you get to listen to it how it was meant to be heard. Really funny in places and completely heart warming. Easy going and lovely. book to make you feel all mushy inside.

Great page turner

Perfect holiday read and I was late for dinner wanting to hear the end.

I felt like I was in the same room as Lil as Sophia told her story.

Listen at 0.75 speed!

Laugh out loud funny! Predictable but an easy listen. Narrator speaks very quickly so I turned the speed down and I was able to keep up! Another great book from Sophia!

A rom com with a difference

Nice story with believable characters almost in spite of the basic premise. Laughed out loud a few times.

Author not narrator

Love her 2 books but found her own narration of this one far from entertaining. Her delivery is too fast a gabbled pace and I would kindly suggest she continues her wonderful writing but finds a narrator.

Surprisingly good

Am generally not a fan of author read novels as they are obviously not professional out loud readers.

This book is an exception. The author does a terrific job and I absolutely loved this book. Listened to it in one day.

Great chicklit. Nothing too heavy, but definitely enjoying and relaxing.

Cute and Fun!

I really enjoyed the story. I’m on the road a lot and I found myself excited to have to drive my car so that I can continue listening to the story. I was also sad when the story came to an end. Not because the author didn’t do a good job with the ending but the very fact that I wouldn’t be able to continue to experience the main character’s life.

Also, I really enjoyed the way that the author narrated the story!

A good beach read

I enjoyed this book but I listened at a slower speed as the author was reading too fast for a languid listen.
