A really fast paced and enjoyable story, another great addition to the Anglesey Murders collection by Conrad! I would definitely recommend this book, however the narrator's pronunciation of some Welsh words and some of his characters accents were irritating.

The storyline was as convoluted as ever but the narration was awful. Welsh accents sounded more like Wear Country and the Liverpudlian accent was a cross between Belfast and South Africa!

the omly think I didnt like was the narrator, he was rubbish at the accents, I couldn't tell where they were from at !!
but the story was absolutely brilliant!!
I only listen to the books while walking my dogs , but the story was so gripping I had to walk my neighbours dogs too, as I didn't want to stop .

My second ever audio book, same author, same narrator. I was as impressed at the narrator's performance as I was in "Good, Bad, Pure Evil".

Once again there are so many characters that without Richard Linford's masterful tone painting in very many various accents, it would have been impossible for me to keep the characters sorted out in my mind (as I drove on a long car journey). Even so, as some characters are referred to by nicknames most of the time (Ghoul, Monkey...), when they are then spoken of by police who use their real family names, I didn't know who some of them were!

Conrad Jones introduces an important character too near the end for her role in the story to sink in : I had to listen to that bit three times.

When we finally find out what DID happen to Rachel, the revelatory lines go by so quickly you can easily miss them : that I also had to play several times to work out the solution and let it unfold in my mind. There are several loose ends in the storyline left dangling, which is a pity as I definitely prefer a tidy ending.

I enjoyed the experience of listening - and if you like detective stories and are familiar with North Wales, Anglesey in particular, you will enjoy this book.

I highly recommend the reader - it would be hard to match his mastery of accents, and unlikely that anyone's natural voice would be pleasanter to listen to than Richard Linford's. Bravo!
