Summary

Sheila O'Flanagan is the best-selling author of The Missing Wife and My Mother's Secret, and her new best seller What Happened That Night, with its enticing story of mothers, daughters and lovers, will enchant listeners who love the novels of Marian Keyes and Lisa Jewell.

Lola has a plan. She's going to escape the village she grew up in and make it in the big city. She's smart enough - but she's also headstrong. When, one evening, she has to make a life-changing choice, she decides quickly, and without the full facts. But there's no way back.

Bey is every bit her mother's daughter. An impulsive decision puts her in the path of great danger. She's left wary of trusting her own judgement ever again. Then, one night, she's standing in front of the man she loves, with her own choice to make.

For both women, everything changes in a moment. But their biggest mistakes might also turn out to be their greatest opportunities....

Not for me

I hated this book; the characters are two dimensional and predictable, the storyline similar. The hugely successful and attractive protagonist who has to be repeatedly reminded to be confident and who constantly questions her worth and judgments was just to steeped in cliché to be believable. The narration is excellent but the story is dull and pedestrian.

Beautiful

Makes you feel angry, happy, giddy, like crying, smiling, laughing. Lots of character building and emotions wrapped up in one audio book. I was hooked from the beginning.

I sooo didn't want this story to end, you feel you're there among the characters watching it all unfold & really good narration as well.

Long and drawn out!

Good story a bit different! Could have been a lot shorter, good narration which helped me listen to the end!

loved this book

I have not listened to this author before and this is not my usual genre. What a great story. I loved the relationships between the different characters all brought to life by the excellent narrator.
