'Both heartbreaking and humorous and, ultimately, a moving memoir of love, survival and new beginnings.' - The Sun

'Reveals the truth behind the music' - Manchester Evening News

'An erudite writer, Orzabal displays wry humour throughout ... [he] is unsparing when assessing his own past shortcomings and behaviours, which gives the text rich humanity ... Welcome To Your Life is a special book.' - Record Collector

'A . . . thoughtful rock memoir, by a man who gives the impression of having thought deeply about everything' - Private Eye

Welcome to Your Life is the captivating and deeply personal memoir from Roland Orzabal, founding member and primary songwriter of the iconic English band Tears for Fears.

Known for their smash hits including "Everybody Wants to Rule the World", "Shout", "Head Over Heels" and "Mad World", Tears for Fears and their unforgettable songs have been part of the fabric of rock and roll for over forty years.

Orzabal shares the story of his band and also his life. It's a journey marked by massive fame, mental health struggles, a career that's navigated a hugely changed political and musical landscape, the creative and personal breakdown of Roland's relationship with Curt Smith, the devastating loss of his wife and the road back to fulfilment as a man, father and musician.

As he reflects on love, loss, faith and recovery, Orzabal shows how the power of music can heal even the deepest wounds.©2026 Roland Orzabal (P)2026 HarperCollins Publishers

Roland has had a really interesting life. This feels like it's probably a very honest account of it. This memoir is very much told from an astrological perspective-every chapter has the astrological events accompanying it, like subtitles. I enjoyed this, though I don't know if it might put off some. He brings his health battles to life with dark humour so that doesn't feel depressing. I would have loved to have heard more detail about the music. There is a fair amount, don't get me wrong, I'm just a nerd and want to know even more.
I loved the Emiliana / Eg White story!
Great narration from Roland.

As a lifelong fan of RO and TFF, I found this a fascinating listen. I was unaware of Rolands passion for astrology.
Each chapter interspersed by a piece of music from Tom Cats Screaming Outside, a magnificent album.
A very open and frank account, of a life well lived.

Fabulous book.
