Summary
An abandoned old house in a small town northeast of Houston is the site of a second murder, eerily similar to a supposed cold case of 14 years earlier. FBI Agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are dispatched to find the link between the two homicides.
The team, including Ice and Billy, find the case to be anything but cold. For CJ and Paige, juggling the investigation while trying to keep their love affair a secret proves to be as hard as uncovering long-buried clues.

Loved it
You just can't fault Abby Craden. I love her as a narrator.
I enjoyed this series and would love more. Refreshing to not have the 'straight girl gone gay' storyline

Brilliant book.
The second book was more mysterious than the first & I'd definitely recommend NOT listening before going to sleep, some bits really made me jump.

Enjoyable series, but lacked depth in places
Abbey Craden is great, as always. I felt that maybe the fantasy/sci-fi element could have been expanded upon, that side left me wanting. The characters are enjoyable, though, and it's great to see queer representation, albeit with some gay woman clichés.

5/5 stars, loved this book 😍
Weeping Walls by Gerri Hill
5/5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is the second book in the Johnston and Riley series. It’s best to read book one first, Keepers of the Cave, to understand the characters’ backgrounds. However, the main themes are sparsely covered.
This sequel picks up a few months after the Hoganville case. FBI agents CJ and Paige are investigating a murder case with their team. They discover that the abandoned house at the centre of the investigation has some eerie coincidences. I liked the addition of Ice and Billy; they brought a contrast to the almost all-female cast in book one.
Not only are CJ and Paige exploring a new relationship, but they are trying to keep it a secret from the rest of the team. The romance subplot brings a great addition to the storyline. The connection between the characters feels authentic as they are relatable.
I really enjoy Gerri Hill’s writing style. I found this suspenseful page-turner spine chilling. The book has left me wanting to read more.

A brilliant sequel to Keepers of the Cave
This book is part romance, part police procedural and part paranormal, which I think I enjoyed more than the first book. We see the development of CJ and Paige's relationship into something deeper and more fulfilling, and there is more of Ice and Billy. There is a large helping of 'creepy' that Hill did so well in both Keepers of the Cave and Gillette Park. All of this is expertly narrated by Abby Craden. The whole package.

Next Detective Book in Series
narrator was excellent! Plot great! Loved the characters, the correct amount of humour added was a master stroke! the only issue is why aren't there more books in the series?
