Summary

Lauren Russell, her family, and the community of Trout Run Valley had been blessed with a workable blueprint for overcoming nearly insurmountable odds - odds that had been surmounted against them, and others like them, since the blackout, subsequent decline of society, and the world's devolution.

The aftermath of the most recent onslaught, a ruthless attack by a menacing enemy, had left them reeling in its wake, leaving a once-sustainable food supply damaged beyond repair and two of their own senselessly murdered. Rebuilding would require time - time they no longer had - following the discovery of yet another tribulation in this unending apocalypse.

When various species of wildlife the community had depended on for life-giving food begin to abruptly die off, and several residents become afflicted with an unidentified illness, it soon becomes evident that another adversary, one that former DHS Agent Christian had forewarned of in earnest, had not yet written them off.

A decision is made in desperation. Several inhabitants must leave the safety and security of the valley that had once provided them with so much plenty and venture out into the precarious unknown that lay beyond its borders, in search of medical assistance and to acquire provisions, or otherwise become victims of the atrocious actions enacted by constituents of the former federal government.

Meanwhile, Lauren's grandmother, Faith Gallo, had been amassing her own form of defiance inside the FEMA camp she and hundreds of others had been unwillingly confined to. However, her actions had not gone unnoticed. Threats are made, and an ultimatum is given, yet Faith stands her ground, refusing to submit. An unwavering response to her oppressors draws a line firmly into the sand, and indicates a promise that a revolution beckons, even in event of her death:

We won't go quietly.

✫✫ 4.5 Stars ✫✫

Stayed up half the night listening to this one. I needed to know what was going to happen. While I didn't get the resolution I expected, at least we know where it's headed and I am excited that book 4 is already available so I can jump right back into the story. I really enjoy how the multiple stories are coming together and we are finally getting an understanding of how they are connected. I am still a big fan of Lauren and I also love the relationship she has with Christian. Can't wait to find out what these characters will do next.

The narration is great for this series, I think he is especially good for 3rd person narrative.

good chapter on a fun series

there is a slight problem of a possible missing chapter in this audiobook.
at one point the crew loads up in a truck, the story then skip what happens between with Lauren running for her life.
I rewound twice looking for what I missed

Get Your Blood Up

There’s a reason C. A. Rudolph is a rising post-apocalyptic genre star. His story of Lauren Russell gets the reader riled up and the blood flowing. You don’t want to stop listening and the adrenaline dump at the end of the story sucks..but, in a good way!

how can it get any better?

This is the best one in the series. Wow! Just when your down, C.A. Rudolph knocks you down a little more, just to bring you soaring back up on the next page. I can't wait for the next book.

great listen.

great story line, for those who are into the post apocalyptic genre. I've read/listened to all 3 in the series and I really enjoyed this one because it really got more into the story. narrator was good as well. What I didn't like is the abrupt ending, but it does leave it wide open for book 3, which I can't wait to read.

Evil Will Not Triumph

Well worth the price of the book, paper or audible. Don't wait, grab it now!

Book three just went to the head of the class. I'm about half way through and trying really hard not to barrel all the way through. The story is so real, the people have become friends now, well some of them anyway. I'm rooting for Lauren and Faith and the clan. I'm also harboring a hope that somewhere in the series Allen will make an appearance.

Keven Pierce is the "voice" of all. How he does it must be a bit magical. He voices their feelings along with their words. I can see Lauren getting upset and tearing into her instructor, etc. By hearing you can see them and it's great!

I'll come back and finish this later. I'm just getting over this flu whatever and am actually feeling I may live to enjoy the book. Now I can start hoping for Book 4!
