Critic reviews

Could be the next Game of Thrones
Delivers on all fronts. This book carries social importance—bringing magic and curiosity and complexity to the Arab world is still hardly done in Western pop culture—but beyond that, We Hunt the Flame is just an exciting, surprising read
Faizal bends fantasy tropes to her will to tell a fresh and gripping story about love, honor, and self-discovery that will leave readers scrambling for more. (Booklist, starred review)
With fierce characters, deathly challenges, and world-building both lyrical and spellbinding, We Hunt the Flame is unputdownable (Marieke Njikamp, #1 New York Times bestselling author)
Filled with rich worldbuilding with stakes that will keep you at the edge of your seat
Lyrical and filled with adventure, a slow-burn romance, and an unforgettable cast of characters in a world based on ancient Arabia, this is a debut series not to be missed (School Library Journal, starred review)
Hafsah Faizal creates a dazzling and beautiful world that will make you not want to put this book down (Seventeen Magazine)
Hafsah Faizal’s writing is so lush and evocative . . . gripping right from the first page (Popsugar)
A sparkling debut, full of mystery and magic, vivid characters, and rich language (Roshani Chokshi, New York Times bestselling author)
Beautiful storytelling, mesmerizing settings, and fiery characters—We Hunt the Flame is danger, magic, and hope all wrapped into one, and it is intoxicating (Evelyn Skye, New York Times-bestselling author of the Crown’s Game series)
Enter the cursed world of Arawiya, and meet the girl who defies that curse
Though certainly a love story, We Hunt the Flame is also a moving portrait of a heroine growing into her power as Zafira fights against the oppression of women.

I wish that Zafira was just a little bit more competent in battle, everything else is amazing, especially the assassin themes and references to Assassins Creed if that is what they are.

The legendary status of the characters like The Princ of death, the Demenhunehunter, the silver whitch, the lion of the night...

The descritions in this book are ncredinle, I felt as if I was really with the characters through the majority of this book. The storyline was exciting albeit a bit complicated and there were multiple astounding plot twists. The slow burn was really well done as Nasir and Zafira slowly fall for each other. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable book I will definitely be listening to again

I liked the voice actors they were very good. Overall I liked the way the world was shown and there were some beautiful writting in it. I initially liked where this was going but as more elements were added and more things just happened I wasn't sure where things were going. This is her first book so it's not bad. There were so many good elements to it. The romance didn't work for me but it is a slow burn so maybe things will improve in book 2

The words were pretty

I loved every moment of this! It was wonderful to see so much of culture I’m familiar with in a novel. And the storytelling was incredible! Hafsahs writing style can easily be described as poetic. And the plot of this tale continued to get more riveting as the story progressed! And that ending! I immediately downloaded the next book, because I had to know what happens next. A 5 star read! Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Beautifully written Middle Eastern inspired Fantasy
