The author establishes their authority by recounting their experience with law enforcement and the military before starting their own private investigator agency. I understand the relevance, but felt it went on too long, so was offputting.
There are some really interesting and challenging cases described, especially relating to showing innocence or clearing someone falling foul of poor procedure. However, I felt the volume could be a lot shorter as surveillance of people claiming disability or breaching child care provisions arose multiple times and even within these the crimes of the suspect under investigation were listed again and again to the extent of feeling like padding. The format of lessons learned and final thoughts was applied throughout and was initially interesting and could be useful, but the repetition made the later cases sound tedious or too predictable.
The narrator did well to inject emotion and authority into the stories, but this palled when the same basic structure was repeated so often.

Some interesting cases, but too repetetive.
