Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Watching You by Lisa Jewell. Gripping psychological suspense from the number one best-selling author of Then She Was Gone, as what begins as an innocent crush develops into a dangerous infatuation.

You’re back home after four years working abroad, with a brand-new husband in tow.

You’re keen to find a place of your own. But for now you’re living with your big brother, camped out in his spare bedroom.

And then - quite unexpectedly - you meet the man next door.

He’s the head teacher of the local high school. He’s twice your age. And he’s devastatingly attractive. Soon you find you’re watching him. All the time.

But what you don’t know is that someone is watching you.

Or that what has started as an innocent crush is quickly turning into an obsession as dark as it is deadly.

Family secrets, illicit passion and an unexplained murder lie at the heart of Lisa Jewell’s gripping new novel.

A compelling listen!

Very enjoyable. Twists and turns in the story; some of which I saw coming, but that was ok. Couldn’t put it down. Good narration.

Naration was good, but too mature.

The story was enjoyable though I wouldn't listen to it again. While well read, the readers voice was too mature to do young voices and was not always clear when doing male of female characters. These is a LARGE amount of 'He said.' 'She said' which became noticable with the over use of the phrases. A good story but a little distracting with launge used.

Lisa Jewell's best so far

Really enjoyed this book. Solid characters, good writing. The ending surprised me really. 5 star for its genre.

I really enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed the story, and the narration is excellent. However, I could only give the story 3 stars because the writing was not great. Too often the same term is used several times within just a couple of sentences. This distracted me. In addition, there are some really cheesy, amateurish sentences. I have read, or listened to, several books by Lisa Jewell and I know she can do better. I doubt I would have stuck with this in paper format due entirely to the, at times, poor writing. The high quality narration carried it. Despite all of this, it’s a great story, with an excellent beginning, middle and end, so I highly recommend it.

A slow burner

I found the beginning sounded a bit too light hearted for a thriller, maybe because of the narrator’s accent BUT I stuck with it and it turned out to be a good listen in the end. I read Lisa Jewell’s first novel and loved that.

Loved this

Narration one of the best I have heard and a great storyline. I guessed who did it half way through but that didn't matter as there was an extra unexpected little twist at the end. Thoroughly recommend and will be downloading her other works and looking out for Gabrielle Glaister narrated books in future

Excellent book

The first half at least if not 3/4 is the build up and explains all the characters and lives. It’s a bit of a slow burner but I persevered and so glad I did.

I need to listen to it again as I missed bits and pieces due to zoning out and therefore don’t fully understand the ending of a couple of the characters endings. I found myself asking whose hair it was at the end but I guess it’s the dead girls. I’m not sure why it’s so odd for Tom given the story line.
And the tassel.....must have missed that but too! Otherwise cracking story albeit full of convenient coincidences.

Gripping<br />

Totally gripped from start to finish although not quite clear on how much central character knew at end of story.
