About this listen

From Joshua Dalzelle, author of the best-selling Omega Force series, comes an all new vision of humanity's future.

In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy? Would humanity fold and surrender, or would they return to their evolutionary roots and meet force with force?

One ship—and one captain—will soon be faced with this very choice.

i did not think a story about space battles 400 years from now would be relatable, but i thoroughly enjoyed this book and it's setting!

Did not expect to like it. Loved it!

My first book I have listened to on audible that was free as part of the sub. My expectations were pretty low because of this, but this book totally proved me wrong.

As is so important with audiobooks the narration is spot on, a quality performance. The story is fast paced and actually, even then relatively short size of the book all work to its advantage.

Well worth your time.

Great little mil space story

The characters kept me interested when the narrative occasionally got bogged. It took two or three chapters to hook, but a long car journey or hike will see it jump started, and book two is now on my wish list. Excellent narrator.

Tasty SF mind candy

Would you consider the audio edition of Warship to be better than the print version?

Well written and believably narrated. Looking forward to the other books in the trilogy and beyond… I haven't tried the print version.
I listen on the train while commuting. I tried listening in the car but find it too distracting! At night in bed I tend to fall asleep within minutes of listening and have to scroll back a few chapters the next day.

What did you like best about this story?

Slow but interesting development of the characters. There are character conflicts running along side the main plot, hinting at more story to come.

Have you listened to any of Mark Boyett’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to Mark Boyett before but I'd happily listen to more.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Star trek but not set in the flag ship and without all the technology, maybe more believable as a result.

A gem

Totally enjoyed this short book, felt realistic and well paced. Interesting characters, and some development of the universe that they live in, would have liked to know more, the whole political system doesn’t really appear til the end of the story and then leaves more unresolved than answered. Enjoyable all the same
