Summary

Demon spawn, they call him. Evil seed of the UnNamed One. Lirak wonders if they might be right. Sent on a holy quest to test his prophetic dreams, he returns to find his people scattered or slaughtered. Ruthless invaders and their dread warlocks spread death and destruction across the land. Before he can lead the remnants of his people in vengeance, Lirak must win their trust. But blades and arrows alone will not defeat this enemy. His only hope is to master warlock sorcery, turning their own fell powers against them. Can he learn their arcane secrets in time, or will the deadly power consume him? Only the seven gods could know, but they war amongst themselves, and Lirak is a pawn in their divine conflict. Even if he defeats the invaders, he fears his trials are just beginning.

Good but bad.

I grow to love the story but the narrator sounded like he was talking to a child

Awesome book and great storyline

I enjoyed the entire book but, my favourite bit was when Lirak met Dedrick for the first time in the first book, he seems to have endless talents and skill. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the fact that it had to end. I would recommend this book to my brother and my friends.I would be surprised if anyone didn't enjoy this marvellous book.I have my rating simply because it deserves it.

Well done with great potential.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to see where he takes it from here. I do lot of reading/listening and go through at least 2 to 3 books a week primarily in the fantasy and sci-fi genres and it's been a while since I'd found a story that really captured my attention. This book was a little slow to begin but it did eventually grab my attention and held it from then on. I've bought the second book and can't wait to immerse myself in it. I believe that "Warrior" is self-published and edited which makes it that much more impressive to me. The narrator isn't great but doesn't take away from the story too much. I definitely recommend it to any of the fantasy fans out there.

Good listen

Any additional comments?

The story is good. Even though it is one another story about the outcast boy who becomes a hero, it does have a unique feeling to it. I don't trust myself not to spoil it so this is all I'll say about the story.

The performance by the narrator was excellent. He does have a deeper voice than other narrators I've listened to but I got used to it after the first chapter. After that, I enjoyed his style.

Worth a credit, a little odd, a little unique

Any additional comments?

The story feels unique, and for this alone is worth the credit. It has this nice mix of English knights/armor and American Indians in colonial times. Note, that is about as close of a feel for the storyline that I can come up with, it does not seem to be directly related to either. I did stop the story several times, and I don't have a great feel as to why. ...and I would have subtracted more stars for this, but considering previous book rankings, I couldn't give it any less than four stars....although I really wanted to subtract a half star here or there. It could have been the performance, or the story, or a combination of the two. The magic in the story is not in your face, it kinda like icing on the cake. Generally, worth a credit, but don't expect to binge listen.

Fantastic Fantasy

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was a great book. The narrator did a good job with it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Warrior?

Golden really brings you to the story. It's unique, unlike anything I've read in the genre, but it draws you in and keeps you wanting more. I read it in two days.

What does David DeSantos bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great narration.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Warriors are Made.

Great story

The only negative thing I have to say about this fantastic book is the narrators character voices are not pleasant to listen too. His voice as a overall narrator is fantastic but the characters all sound "whiney". But as I said his story telling voice is very pleasant

Juvenile writing and overly melodramatic naration

Couldn't even finish, starts off OK but repeats the same couple phrases cooonstantly and will say one thing the the complete opposite in the next paragraph. Also characters have no depth and it's very cookie cutter plot.
